It could be a bad ground or a bad spot in your wires. you will have to check each wire to see if it is working. good luck it could take a while to trace them

SOURCE: Had 94 jeep grand cherokee

Doesn't sound like even a questionable mechanic
would do what you said

No one would ever remove a gas tank and not
replace the fuel pump. That is just stupid, for the
amount of work involved.

Look on NAPA for the cost of the pump

After that experience, I would pay for the
tow ,not to deal with them again

$900 at the start was high, now it is
close to dishonest

I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee I was driving it and quit running the fuel pump quit running and the gas gage stopped working

check your fuel pump relay. if not that, then it's your fuel pump. the gas gauge is in the fuel pump, so if your fuel pump stopped working, your gas gauge won't work

How do you reprogram key fob for 94 jeep g.c. 4.0 liter ?

I think your fuel pump MAY be failing, Luther. It may also be stopping because it thinks it's pressurized the fuel enough, though. Have someone check the fuel pressure and flow rate at the fuel rail with the appropriate gauge.

If your "Check Engine" light is on, also have someone get the error codes from your Jeep's computer with an first generation OBD scan tool - there may be another issue totally unrelated to the fuel pump.

You do understand that a '94 is really getting pretty old, right? After twenty years, it owes nobody anything. The Jeep's computer may be borderline dying... and you may not be able to get another GOOD computer to replace it. After twenty years, even new-old-stock computers off the shelf are pretty unlikely to work. Your Jeep may have driven its last miles - it's sad, but they DO have a much more finite life than the older (pre-1987) vehicles.

94 jeep cherokee runs for a few miles and dies

HELLO FRIEND .

WELL SOUND LIKE YOUR FUEL PUMP GOING OUT . WHEN PUMP IS COLD IT IS WORKING KIND OF FINE , BUT AS SOON AS GETS WARM , THE FUEL PRESSURE IS DROPS . CHANGE PUMP , IF YOU DONT HAVE IN OFF MONEY AT THE MOMENT >> KEEP FUEL LEVEL ABOVE HALF TANK , FUEL WILL KEEP PUMP COOL. GOOD LUCK !!

Had 94 jeep grand cherokee to mechanic last week and they replaced the fuel pump seal for $200. Noticed the gas gauge wasn't moving 2 days later. 6 days later, jeep shut off while driving and towed back to...

yes, are you sure that you did not just run out of gas, because the gage was not working? it sounds like they may have not gotten the fuel pump module back in the tank properly that would explain the no fuel gage, also when they had the pump out they may have damaged the wiring to the pump that could cause it to fail.

My jeep won;t start but wil turn over like normal, also the fuel gauge does not work or the battery gauge and all were working when i park it . came out in the morning to go to work and nothing worked

Hi, it sounds like you dont have any power to the fuel pump or the sending unit, turn the key to the "on" or run position and listen to see if you hear a humming noise. if you do not this means the fuel pump is not working, first check the fuses for the fuel pump. this should be under the hood in the fuse compartment. the battery guage doesnt work because the car is not running and charging the battery and will go up when the car starts. If the fuse is not blown you may have to replace the fuel pump.
