Where is the oil sending unit located on my 1999 gmc Sonoma sls

99 to 2007 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0 are all located the same place. They are at the back of the engine about right in the center. Remove the Black Cover on top the engine. With a flashlight and you crawl up on top the engine and look behind the engine towards the top and you should see it. It has an electrical connection on top, you will need a socket that fits and about an 8 inch extentions to get it up and on so you can get your ratchet on. Hope this helps you.

yes it will be on the lower part of the engine block. i believ on passenger side.

It is at the very top rear of the engine behind the intake to the right of the distributor on a thin lip of metal of the engine block.

Change the oil sending unit to see if the sending unit is at fault,if this does not fix the problem,then the main,and rod bearings in the engine are worn.
