Need to have it tested but the good news is im looking at a flyer i got from a california parts house that has previa trans used low milage installed for $600 if it turns out yours is bad they can ship you one cheap if you have a mechanic i can give you the info or if not may can help autodoc01 @ live .com happy toyotaing

Perform ODBII scan. Look for speed sensor fault. Trans has to read speed to know what gear to engage. Could also be a governor problem. Try shifting from low to high gear manually

While drivingtransmission shifts thru all gears but 3rd, doesn't slip just wont go into third gear

fluid and filter would affect all gears not just one . I would run the fault codes and look for a TCM problem with a solenoid /servo problem for 3rd gear.

Auto gearbox wont shift out of 3

It is most likely the transmission, component causing it would be the valve body, which can be replaced separately, but usually if there is higher mileage on the transmission the clutch plates are also worn and replacing the valve body may not fix the whole issue.

You may have a bad clutch disc or pressure plate. You may have a bad transmission. Have you checked the master cylinder? I guess it may be a release bearing. Has this been going on ever since you changed to a 5 speed?

Hi i have a 1993 daihatsu charade 1300cc automatic and it drives and changes gears from 1st and 2nd but wont go in to 3rd gear.The engine will rev up when it try to go in to 3rd.

two choices renew auto box ,fit a manual gearbox or scrap car and buy a newer vehicle ,Parts are a problem with these cars ,just not available

What would be causing gears to pop out. At first it was 3rd and 5th gears. I changed the clutch now it wont take 4th at all and 5th continues to pop out (must hold it in) 3rd doesn't pop anymore but grinds...

You probably need to rebuild the transmission, and look for gears that have been damaged, synchronizers that have failed, and worn parts in general.
The clutch has no bearing on whether the tranny slips out of gear.

I have Audi A3 1.6 2001 model with automatic gearbox and it just doesnt want to change gears, from 2nd to 3rd it changes only at 70km/h and it doesn't change from 3rd to 4th at all. Any advise?

well i had thesame problem with my 1995 m A6. its the potentionmeter switch which sits on top of the engine and connects to the throttle assembly. if its not working then the gearbox wont change gears until very very late, easy to come off ..only 2 screws.

Sound like you have a burnt 3/4 clutch. It will need rebuilt or replaced.

You might have a bent fork in the tranny. I used to race a lot and had the same problem after trying to shift quickly repeatedly. After a while, it just wont grab the gear.

check out your tranny, it shouldnt be too bad of a problem.
