94 Olds Cutlass Supreme driving after warm trans free wheels until you pull over put in park and shut car off. Start car put in gear and drive away untill it does this again. Seems like a sticking pressure releif valve or the govenor valve sticking. I had a 93 Grand Am that had a bad torqeconverter solinod that acted similar with the shut down wait restart but it would lock the converter and not release so car would buck and die like not putting the clutch. This has me stumped Thanks for any Help you can provide> Doug

I bet u hav as many miles on dat cars as a trip to the moon-the trans is old in alot of places-varnish on parts from heat etc-u can get troubleshootin lit in library sec629 chiltons or haynes in discount auto

Check oil first, Low oil sensor will shut down if more than a quart low. Change fuel filter, could be fuel starvation, change the air filter. stopped up air filter will put MAF sensor out of range. PERFORM OBDII SCAN SOON.
there should be no fill hole for a manual trans if you are speaking of the slave cylinder for the clutch its on the fire wall near the brake master cylinder.in fact it looks like a minature master cylinder.
You have to find the linkage and pull it. If yu cannot find the linkage, one trick is to go to a self serve wrecking yard and play with one of the 90s olds by removing the door panel and looking at it to see how it works.
the torque convertor is locking up,There is a plastic wire harness on top the transmission,Unplug it from the transmission and your troubles will cease, If you want it repaired and transmission shop can do it,or you can drive it for ever unplugged
It physically will fit and bolt up,but there are many different ratio,and drive and driven sprocket tooth counts,different final drive ratios,all monitored by the computer with electronic speed sensors.If the trans from the 95 has a different ratio than the 93,the computer will set gear ratio error codes,and possibly put the trans in a failsafe mode,stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear.On the transmission case,down by where the passenger side axle would go in,is a thin metallic tag,maybe 2"x 3",and it has bar codes,and also a series of numbers and letters.The numbers and letters,large cap,are the final drive gear ratio code.They should match on the two transmissions in question.
