SOURCE: Engine light and ABS traction control light remain

The ABS sensor is a speed sensor also for Traction Control. This is why both lights are on , One of your front ABS sensors are bad or disconnected, or has a pinched wire.

SOURCE: warning light on are trac off, anti-lock, brakes, service engine

You need to have the abs system scanned for codes. You likely have a bad wheel speed sensor on one of wheels.

SOURCE: ESP/BAS warning light on. went

Hi, these systems are all linked together. Most commonly, one of the wheel speed sensors is not reading or is reading incorrectly. This can also occur on slippery surfaces where one or more wheel slides enough to cause the sensor to drop the signal, but not enough to meet criteria for an abs or esp episode. If the light comes back every time you turn on the ignition, there is a deeper problem.
The system has detected a fault in the electronic stability program - brake assist system. You have an electrical connection at the rear wheels secured to the inside of the brake area and are viewable from under the vehicle. It is a small wire harness running to each wheel. Grab the connector and wiggle it around, and make sure they are tight. Due to the connector being mounted low to the ground, sometimes they become dirty or corroded, not making contact. Do this on both sides and see if the lights turn off.

If the light does not turn off, you have to replace dynamics sensor, which is mounted UNDERNEATH the center console in the car. There is a "lost communication to dynamics sensor" and "low voltage to dynamics sensor supply"..

Engine light and traction control light on 2006 chevy hhr

Traction control usually uses part of your ABS brake system to function. Sometimes a dirty (or worn out) wheel sensor is the problem that triggers both "check engine" and "traction control"...This can be verified with the proper diagnostic meter, and many shops will perform this test for free...unfortunately the free check at the auto parts stores does not include reading the ABS/Traction sensors...sensor cost is about $65. sometimes they can be cleaned. Hope this helps.

Control off traction the trac off button lights up that wont let me turn it on what might be the problem

The light comes on and goes off when you start the engine as a test. If the light comes back on, there is a problem and you need to get the body computer scanned for trouble codes. The traction control uses the engine and ABS braking system to work.

My trac light is on, on the dash board. Where is the wheel sensor located ?

Your vehicle is equipped with 4 of them. They are located at each of the 4 wheels. There are other reasons that the Traction Control light can come on...wheel speeds sensors are not the only reason, athough they are the most common. The traction control system works with the engine/powertrain control system and with the antilock brake system. A bad wheel speed sensor will usually also turn on the Antilock Brake (ABS) light. If the Check Engine light is also on, you could have an engine control problem causing the Trac light to come on.
.
If the Trac light is on by itself, you may just have the traction control turned off. The Trac Off switch is located on the steering column.

If none of the above solves your problem, then you will have to scan your computer system to find out why the light is on. ( i.e. failed wheel speed sensor...but which one?)

In my 03 deville my traction control light is on an my 3rd brake light on the trunk not working

the rear brake light probably needs to have a new bulb. The traction control light on means traction system is off. There is a button I think on the dash or cosole that says TCS...try pushing the button and maybe that will turn light off. At hard throttle TSC keeps wheel from spinning
with the help of wheel speed sensors from the anti-lock brake system.when TSC is off car will drive like a hot rod. the TSC takes away power from engine by reducing power.anti -lock system lets the TSC know that one wheel is spinning faster than the rest.If that helps let me know

What does the TCS Off button do?

TCS stands for Traction Control System.
The traction control system works in conjunction with your Antilock Brake System (ABS) and your Engine Control Module (ECM) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Electronic Control Unit (ECU) (Note that ECM, ECU, and PCM all mean the computer that controls your engine, depending on make.)

Anyway, the traction control system can apply one or more of the brakes and control engine RPM in the event that a wheel slip has been detected by the traction control system.

Pushing the TCS button on most models will light a lamp in the instrument cluster that usually says "Trac Off" Pressing it a second time will turn this light back off.

When the "Trac Off" light is illuminated, the Traction Control System is disabled and will not work in the event of a wheel slip.

Also note that when the Traction Control System is working and a wheel slip is detected, The Traction Control Module will usually illuminate a light that says "Trac" as it is taking control of your brakes and engine. It can feel really strange when this occurs and some people think that their transmission is slipping or that their engine has a misfire problem.
The chances are that if it occurred on wet, slippery pavement, the Traction Control System may have just saved your life.

If this is happening on dry pavement and normal driving conditions (starting, stopping, or turning), there may be a problem with the system. "False Traction Control" can happen just like a bad wheel sensor causing "False Antilock Mode".

Also check your Owners Manual for more specific information pertaining to your particular vehicle.

Transmission Traction "Off" light stays lit with Traction button

The traction control system is controlled through the Anti-lock brake system. The way it works is if one of your wheels starts spinning the ABS applys the brake to that wheel to transfer power to the oppsite wheel that is getting traction. If your ABS is bad then your Traction control won't work. To check it I would find a parking lot on a wet day. In an open space mash in the gas. if you hear the ABS system kick in and you don't squall the tires then your good. My guess is you won't. What I would be worried about is will my ABS work. When checking the traction control is a good time to check the ABS. Acclerate to around 15 mph, then mash the brake as your live depended on it. If you hear a motor run and feel a vibration or grind in the brake peddal, then it works.
