I've had my 2003 Saturn vue for a couple years now and it's been a great car and gave me no issues, until recently. So the 1sr issue was the key getting stuck and I'd have to wiggle it to get it to click off, or else the door would ding when it was open because the ignition wasn't all the way off. Then one day it wouldnt turn off athe all and was 100% stuck and the key was really hard to remove we had to take off the steering wheel cover and press some button and it finally let me click it all the way off. Then today we got in the car and turned it on for about a minute, then turned it off and went inside and a couple mins later the horn started blowing and an alarm type noise started happening that I've never heard before. And it didn't stop until I Turner the ignition to the other position. When I turned it back to the off position it started doing it again. And the dashboard lights were all blinking including one that said security I turned the key to the on position and left it there for about 10 minutes, then turned it back over to offer and it didn't do it again. What could be causing this?

First off, you need to get a can of electrical cleaner/ lubricant. Disconnect the battery and then spray some of the electrical cleaner into ignition switch. Put a towel on carpet to catch any liquid that makes its way down the steering column. Most of the time this will be very dirty and will stain carpet. Spray some more and this time insert key and turn it to start position, let it return to run position and then off several times while spraying electrical cleaner into switch around key. Inside the ignition switch are these little floating pins that make contact to supply power to relays that open to give strong power to lights, starter, ect. After several years of use, they will build up corrosion, oil residue from grease used inside switch when it was new, and or dust build up. These all cause the pins to stick and also gum up the ignition cylinder that turns when you turn the key. When the pins stick, it continues to supply power to different components such as computer, horn, light relays, ect. Wal Mart and most auto parts stores sell this cleaner. Do not use WD-40 as it is a conductor and will attract dust and short allowing the power to still be supplied even when key is removed. You can also buy a powdered graphite that comes in a small bottle with a tip on it. You can squeeze some of this into the ignition slot to lubricate all the little contacts inside the ignition switch as well as the ignition tumbler...

SOURCE: Chevy Cobalt: key stuck in ignition

Does anyone know what the recalled part is for the Chevy Cobalt that causes the key to get stuck in the ignition? I would greatly appreciate any help on this as I do not have $600 to get it fixed.

I just bought a used saturn from a private dealer, my transmission recently started slipping. they are now saying that the connector(computer) sensor (pin) needs to get repair? Is this correct? And what is...

First, they don't make Saturns any more,SO, you bought one!

Forget a warrantee,it is 8 years old

Any slipping of a transmision, means it won't
last long and has been slipping for some time

Hopefully a wiring issue

Don't drive it until resolved

We recently purchased a 2003 saturn vue we are having trouble with the ignition every time we go to try and start it its so hard to turn the kek you have to keep fighting with it until it starts

Try powdered graphite in the lock cylinder. NOT liquid but powdered. You can get it at auto parts stores or better grade at any good locksmith. Comes in a squeeze tube, couple of puffs into lick and work it in. It takes a short amount of time but it works great.

My 'service engine soon' light came on, then went off a couple of weeks later. It came back on and I had it scanned by a mechanic. The p0128 code came up. He reset the onboard computer and it went off but...

I have a 2003 saturn vue which repeatedly gave me the P0128 code. I replaced the water pump, and ultimately had to replace the thermostat. The water pump is a $40 part, the thermostat is a $25 part. Problem is that its a 4 hour job by chilton timeframe. If you have the know how you can do it yourself on a saturday afternoon, however if your not familiar with playin with a Saturn, better take it to a professional.
