1998 BMW 528i won't start. not even clicking from the starter!

I purchased this car from a auction.

I already knew that this car had a bad alternator. The car would still start with a hot battery or a jump. since before I got a chance to change to alternator the car will not even start anymore. when I turn the key their is no clicking from the starter. all the power and everything comes on but no start. I know the starter is good because I ran a lead from the battery to the starter and that the only way for me to get the car to crank over but it still will not start. Im thinking it has somthing to do with the factory alarm system. But I dont know whats going on with it. I know the battery is fully charged and I also had a jump box hook up in the front to make sure it was fully powered.

SOURCE: i need to disable my

Now im not sure since the manual says your model has the same alarm system as the 328i and on the 328i you can remove the module to disable by doing the following. you can unplug the control module. It is located under the glove box. Climb under the dash on the passenger side and remove a few screws on the trim panel under the glove box. Theres a black control module with a green connector. There should be a lock tab on the connector. press the lock tab and pull out the connector. The alarm should now be disabled. But if it has the special transponder key this may not work.
But if the only reason you want to disable it is because of the motion sensor setting of the alarm for no reason there is a solution for this. To disable the motion sensor, hit the lock button to arm, then hit lock button again within four seconds to disable motion sensor. Red light on rearview mirror should flash four times, then pause, then start flashing on regular intervals. this is most likely the reason if your having the issue where the alarm goes off every 20 minutes.
If you want to completely remove it below is a wiring diagram taken from the manual for you alarm system.

SOURCE: My 1998 bmw 528I doors

You should be able to move the door catch with your hands or a short heavy screw driver. If you use a screw driver be careful not to scratch your paint. Before trying to move the catch be sure your door is unlocked. It should flip back to the open position with a little effort.

Good Luck

1998 BMW 528I not starting

very simple friend, if it has a long crank then its the Starter, if it starts up right away but crank is weak, then its the battery.. if either of those is fine, then your problem lies at the alternator, usually alternators take a heavy hit if you like to blast music, or if you have a sound system! hope this helps!! you can get the alternator checked aswell as your battery for free!

1998 bmw 528i battery died. How can I unlock the

I am not familiar with this car, but most with electric locks can be unlocked the old fashioned way by placing the key in the lock and turning. Barring that, call for a wrecker or locksmith to open the car, or somehow get power to the electrical system to power the locks. If the hood is open, or openable from the outside, just use jumper cables to apply power. Perhaps you could get to the starter feed cable (or even the batter feed) from underneath the car. I hope this gives you some idea that is helpful in resolving your problem.

If you've never replaced the timing belt or chain,That would be my first thing I'd check is the Timing belt or chai, just aline the timing marks on crankshaft and then look at the position on the distributor to see if it's pointed in the #1 firing position .

Engine start problems

the problem could be the starter, battery, battery cables, or alternator. the clicking could most likely be the starter going bad if not bad already or the battery weak or bad battery cables, if you have good power to everything else radio headlamps and heater the i would start by replacing starterlet me know what you find.
