SOURCE: Panasonic 816 phone system

What you need to do is set the number of rings before answer on the phone to a number greater than the number of rings it takes before AT&T answers (for example, set AT&T to answer after 4 rings and the phone to answer after 5). Some phones have switches on them that allow you set the number of rings. Some make you set the number through their software. Look on the body of the phone, particularly the sides, for that switch and set it to the biggest number it offers.

If the mailbox is indeed full, and this WILL hold the entire system up, you simply need to remove the old messages. IF it is NOT true, then you have a fault, you need to first try a reset, and if that doesn't work, a re-program if that doesn't work, then the unit has developed an internal fault, and needs to be repaired.

How do you rerecord the out going message on a Panasonic KX-TG4221?

To record a new greeting on the Panasonic KX-TG4221, make sure that the phone is in standby (no handsets in use). Press Menu on a handset. Use the up/down arrows to navigate to Answering Device and press OK (Menu). Again use the up/down arrows to navigate to Greeting and press OK. Navigate to Record Greeting and press OK. Select Yes (from the Yes/No) options and press OK. After you hear the beep, hold the handset about 8 inches (20 cm) away from you and recite the message. Press OK when finished. Press Off to exit the menu system. The previous greeting will be deleted as you do the above steps. (The manufacturer's pre-recorded greeting will only play if you do not have a recorded greeting. You can listen to the greeting by following the first three steps above and then choosing Check Greeting. See page 24 of the manual for the steps to record a new Greeting. The manual is available on the product page: http://shop.panasonic.com/support-only/KX-TG4221N.html . The direct link to the manual is currently: ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/telephone/om/kx-tg4221_mul_om.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Is there a way to change the password on the phone system if you don't know the current password?

If you're talking about the voicemail for your extension, the person who is the voicemail administrator in your office can reset yours to whatever is default for your system. If you just got that ext and want to start fresh, and your ext doesn't own any additional mailboxes, have the administrator delete then re-add you mailbox, you'll be at default and can record your own name and greeting. If your ext owns extra mailboxes, don't delete the mailbox or the other mailboxes will also be deleted, such as the reception general mailbox, or the one that gives your companies greeting when someone calls at night. If your talking about the system programming password, that's typically a system tech thing and not given out.

How do I access my messages when I am out of town. I have a Panasonic DECT 6.0 Thank you. ginny

Call your phone while you're away, and when your message starts to play enter your remote code. After that, you use the keypad on the phone to control message playback, record a new greeting, etc.

"DECT 6.0" is a generic term for the cordless phone technology, and not your phone model number. You'd find that on a label on the back or bottom of the base unit. Without a specific model I can't look for a manual and give details, but if you have the model listed you can download the manual from Panasonic here. It gives all the steps to set up your remote code and the commands to use. If you have a different model phone you can look for your manual at Panasonic's support page.

For the model listed above, the default remote code is 111. The list of remote commands is

Key Remote command
{1} Repeat message
(during playback)*1
{2} Skip message (during
playback)
{4} Play new messages
{5} Play all messages
{6} Play greeting message
{7} Record greeting
message
{9} Stop recording
Stop playback*2
Start voice guidance*3
{0} Turn answering system
off
{*}{4} Erase message
currently playing
{*}{5} Erase all messages
{*}{6} Erase greeting
message (during
greeting message
playback)
{*}{#} End remote operation
(or hang up)

Maybe this list works for your phone too.
