SOURCE: 2000 Mercury Cougar Power door locks do not work on either door

Power door locks are on the same fuse as the alarm system. The fuse is located in the passenger compartment fuse panel under the steering wheel. There is a pull down lever that will release the fuse box. The fuse for the alarm system/locking system is #25. Yellow color and a 20 ampere rating.

Where is the OBD connector on a 1988 XR7 Cougar

On the 1988 XR7 the Ford diagnostic connector is located under the hood and just ahead of the right front strut tower. It's not the familiar looking OBD-II 16 pin connector but is the Ford style two part connector consisting of one single wire with a female spade type connector and another odd shaped connector with 5 or 6 female spade connectors in it. The typical auto parts store OBD-II reader won't work to read codes on this one, instead you need someone with an older tester to see what is happening and the data available from the system is quite limited also. Hope this helps and good luck!

The mandatory Rotunda Evaporative Emission System Leak Tester for OBD II (including the ultra-sonic tester) is the only device to be used at this time for evaporative emission system leak detection.

This Pinpoint Test is intended to diagnose the following:
