Sounds like the Altinator is going out. At higher RPM it is putting out enough power to keep the car running but when the rpm gets below a certain point there is not enough power coming out of it to keep the car running.
This sounds like it may be related to an issue with timing. Was the timing belt replaced just prior to the bogging problem? If so, it may be the cam is now 1 tooth off from where it should be. If any other tune up work was done recently, it could be related to that; or, it may be in need of a good tune-up: plugs, distributor cap, and rotor, air filter, and maybe even ignition wires.
