There are 2 catalytic converters on Sedonas, it sounds like the rear one is failing. These can be replaced with generic universal ones that can be found on ebay, don't let the dealership tell you otherwise. Any number of shops would install it for you if you brought it in to them, if you don't want to install it yourself.

Despite the fact that it may be running fine right now, It sould be replaced, however. A faulty catalytic converter will result in the vehicle's computer adjusting fuel/air mixtures, timing, etc. etc. in an effort to rectify what is percieves to be an inefficient engine operation.

I have 04 kia sedoa running sluggish/low power.drilled out inside of cat converters,still low power.engine codes are po421 and po431.should I replace o2 sensors,if so which ones?

Those are your only codes? you really shouldnt have drilled out your cats, its hard to diag an 02 sensor online. a scanner could show if they are functioning properly. It might be an issue with your cats though and require replacement.

2005 Kia Sedona 3.5 eng. will not go over 15 mph with pedal to the floor cleaned the throttle with spray cleaner and did CPS two weeks ago and coils and tune up last night still same problem

I would recommend a scan test on the ECM to see if any trouble codes are there and point you in the right direction. The MAF sensors on thesr vehicles are problamatic and cause throttle actuator to go into limp mode. Unplug the MAF sensor and see if it makes any difference

My 2004 sedona has little power going up hills, my local machanic says the code( po431) means the bank 2 catyletic converter is bad, but which converter is bank2? also have a code -p01159 which no one...

The answer to your first question is the Oxygen sensor bank 2. Its the oxygen sensor after the catalytic towards the rear of the motor. For the other DTC there is no P01159 DTC, P0159 is Bank 1 Sensor 1 Oxygen Sensor bad, P1159 is an air intake leak or a MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor leak)

The check engine light turned on. I took the van to get scanned and this code came out. PO431 Warm Up Cat Efficiency Low Bank2

A code P0431 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
* The catalytic converter is no longer functioning properly
* An oxygen sensor is not reading (functioning) properly
* There is an exhaust leak

Possible Solutions:
* Inspect for exhaust leaks. Next step is to measure the voltage at the oxygen sensor on Bank 2. In fact, it would be a good idea to test each oxygen O2 sensor while you're at it.
* One thing to note is that many vehicle manufacturers offer a longer warranty on emissions-related parts. So if you have a newer car but it's out of it's bumper-to-bumper warranty, there still may be warranty on this type of problem. Many manufacturers give a five year, unlimited mileage warranty on these items. It's worth checking into.

Need to know what po431 code

catalytic converter fault, I would try to replace the o2 sensor first because the cat cost just about $500! I know it is the sensor after that cat and I am pretty sure it is for the back side of the motor.

Good luck, I just replaced all o2 sensors and still got that code and I just purchased 2 cats- Big Money Problem!
