SOURCE: battary light on , engine cut off car won't crank
sounds like it's your alternator, your alternator charges your battery and runs car once it is started. if you have a bad alternator your battery light will come on, and shortly after your vehicle will die, unable to restart without a jump. I would take your battery to autozone or an auto shop to have your battery and alternator tested.
SOURCE: Engine cuts out while driving, have to restart engine then works.
Ignition system. For failures that cut out like this is a common sign of a ignition system failure
SOURCE: Engine Light on - Jerking when i get to about 45 - 60 miles
Had the same problem with my 2004 lx 2.7, code reader said cam position sensor, replaced that $30 @ autozone. 2 screw on front of engine, easy fix and no more jerking
SOURCE: 1994 Buick Roadmaster LT1 Corvette engine,
same symptoms i had but my solution was very elusive and therefore costly----the main connection of electricity from the battery to the machinery was stripped and would not come completely off but would lose contact for a few seconds at a time intermittently and sometimes for hours. the part was 7 dollars but it cost 1500 to find it out.
SOURCE: what causes the car to cut off while driving. When
Most frequent causes of that condition are either the fuel pump or the crank position sensor. Both really need to be tested but if when you turn the key to the on position right after it stalls, you cannot hear the pump running in the fuel tank, it's a good bet that is your problem. When the pump is beginning to fail, it gets hot and binds. As soon as it cools down it will work normally. Generally the interval between when it starts back up and stalls again will get shorter and shorter as it gets worse. Pretty much the same thing can happen to cps. That does require testing with a digital ohmeter to validate failure BUT it may read as good if it isn't in a stall condition.
