I'm trying to find the low pressure valve to recharge the AC in a Ford Escape HYBRID

I've read that the Low pressure valve is on a larger line than the high pressure valve. But I can only find one valve so I can't compare.

SOURCE: 97 grand am low pressure port to recharge

The low pressure port is on the compressor on the bottom side. It should have a black cap on it.

SOURCE: Locating low pressure valve on 96 explorer for ac recharge

The largest diameter line is the suction which is low. The small one that runs to a coil by radiator is high pressure. If there is no cooling then you may have air in the system which means a leak must be fixed first. Are you sure the compressor is engaging? You should hear it click and the engine bog down a little.

SOURCE: 2004 Honda CRV air conditioning stopped blowing

Hi!

If by red lined you mean it went over the 250 psi range??

Assumiing that the answer is yes. This is what I think.

The Hi and Low pressure switches prevent damage to the compressor if the pressure is out of range.

Before going any further, check A/C Relay and fuse.

With the engine off, check pressure on both, Hi and Low. Both gauges must have same reading. It should be between 175-200 psi at about 80 degrees temp., if pressure is over that range, the Hi Pressure switch is preventing the compressor clutch to engage, gas needs to be removed by a qualifying A/C Technician.

If Pressre is between range, and both gauges read the same, start engine and turn compressor on, check gauges, The Low side should read about 38 psi and the Hi side should be between 250/275.psi.

Any more trouble shooting should be performed by a Qualified Tech.

Low pressure valve for 2008 ford explorer xlt

There should be two ports with black caps on the ac lines. One is bigger than the other to help prevent you from hooking up to the wrong side of the compressor.

The Low Pressure Side connector will be smaller than the High Pressure Side connector so the refill hose will fit properly only on the Low Pressure Side.

I am trying to recharge the AC system but the quick connect on the kit doesn't seem to fit the port I found. So I am trying to get a picture of the service port and where it is in the engine compartment.

There are 2 ports, a low pressure and a high pressure port. The high pressure port is larger. Follow the lines coming from the compressor. One will lead you to the high pressure, the other will lead you to the low pressure port. You may need a tool similar to a tire valve core remover to unscrew the valve core a little bit so your connector can reach it to open the port and allow charging.

My recharging kit for air conditioner doesn't seem to fit recharge valve on 2004 dodge durango. How can I be sure i am looking at the low prerssure valve?

Newer vehicle come with R134 vs R12. Since the two are not compatible, R134 has larger fittings. AC system has two ports, High and Low. Low is return to AC Compressor and high is output. High port is first following line from compressor to condenser (condenser is at front of vehicle like a second radiator). Keep following line till you find high port (paint cap red). Second port is low (paint cap blue).

Hi, my husband and i have a 2006 optima. te ac

Absolutely not!  Never attempt to recharge from the high side. Recharging from the high side is extremely dangerous and could do harm to both you and the car.  If the low side pressure is only 10psi, you are low on refrigerant.  Most cars require 20psi to operate the compressor and should never fill to more than 40-45psi unless recommended by the manufacturer.  I'd re-check the pressure readings.  It's possible that instead of charging the system, while hooking up the hose, you've let freon escape, accounting for the hissing noise and the low pressure reading.  When recharging the AC system, it's important to have the car running and have the AC on high.  It's possible, you didn't have a good connection to the low side which also would account for the escaping refrigerant.  I hope this answers your question.  I'd try to recharge the system again on the low side, making sure the connection is good both at the low side valve and on the can of refrigerant.  Best of luck.

AC has stopped blowing cold air. Compressor is working. Where is the recharge valve located?

There are two A/C refrigerant lines. The small line is your high pressure line and the larger line is your low pressure line.
Start at the fire wall and follow the "large " low pressure line to the compressor. The low pressure charge port will be some where on that line.
DO NOT try to recharge on the high pressure side ( small line )
Good luck, let me know.
