SOURCE: My 2006 Cadillac STS won

most of the time it occurs after replacing a battery but if this occurred out of the blue then something like the transponder has failed

you'll need a professional scan tool and about an hour to diagnose the concern

then when fixed, you'll need another 30 minutes to reprogram the computers and keys

SOURCE: the car won"t crank, 1992 Volkswagon Passat

If the switch (neutral safety switch) is broken, it will not crank regardless whether you jump the battery or a new battery is installed. I don't have specific manual for your year that's why my advice is as in general. With a remote starter tool, bypassing the solenoid wire with remote starter which is connected to the positive terminal of the battery of it's other end. Once positive current flows from the battery, through the remote switch, flowing towards the solenoid, the starter should engage indicating a bad wiring harness connection from ignition switch. If it doesn't crank at all you may have a bad starter assembly and needs replacing. If your starter is clicking using it's own battery power, your battery is low of charge or your charging system is malfunctioning.

Pls, rate this suggestion, thank you.

SOURCE: 2002 Impala 3.8 will not

You need to check and see if the security light is on or flashing. If it is then the security system is what is keeping the vehicle from starting. You need to get the codes from the Theft Deterrent module and from there it will need to be diagnosed to find the problem. The Theft Deterrent module and the PCM is what allow power to the starter once it sees that the correct key has been used.If you have a worn out key this could cause it not to work.So if you have a second key you can try that first. If the light is not on or flashing then you have to check the crank fuse on the left side of the instrument panel.Let me know what you find out.I`ll be glad to help you out with any codes and tell you what they are.Good luck.

2004 Dodge Neon . All the lights , radio ,etc work , but it won't crank

the battery is dead.
next is jumper cable jump starts.
or fuses blown.
but I bet the battery voltage is not 12.6vdc,
and is below 8vdc, dead;. or below 10v
below 10 computers fail
below 8v the stater solenoid chatters and fails.
most modern cars 10v fails hard.
lights can work at 10v but are dim
the lamps are like 10amps and starter uses 300amps.
so lamp tests are useless to a starter, see why./?
30 times more current for a starter,
load test the battery first, or jump start it.
then if battery is ok there are lots of things to fail
in circuit order
  1. battery dead (fails load test)
  2. fuse blown
  3. key switch failing (i bet not)
  4. PRNDL switch bad. (learn to crank in Neutral too)
  5. starter relay bad.
  6. starter bad.

does the relay click at least?heard.<<<a savvy tech test.
good luck.

Where is the starter relay located in a 2006 Nissan Sentra 1.8L?

well that is only part of any START system,.
fuses are fire and in this order,
below,
fuses good
key switch good.
IMMO on some cars do cut cranking and spark then fuel. if IMMO lamp is showing unhappy(per users guide)
then PRNDL not dead, for P and N, car cranks in P and N did you fail to try N? neutral?
then RELAY start is closed (you can hear it click) dead stater .!
ok the relay now drives 5-10amps of current to the starter solenoid.
and it now engages the starter and makes a huge noise and cranks the crank shaft and it spins the engine, if not seized.
all starters can be hot wired key off.
this proves in seconds be battery and starter are good saving $300 lost cash, pain. in one simple test. (jumper wired)
in park, emg brake set.
keys in pocket
under car stater see this wire>?
jump it.(it will crank but not start)

also auto stores sell a push button with 2 test leads to do this max safe. and max easy both
I remove the tiny faston lug and jump this tiny spade to big outboard lug, I first did this in 1964. on my 1959 car. if it cranks the problem is back up that small wire here. to relay next and back further if need be. call small wire the KEY line. if battery cables lugs are loss x4 or rusty it fails. easy

Does it have a ignition relay switch?

Nicole, I google it and the 06 Cadillac STS does appear to have a ignition relay. It will most likely be found in the engine compartment fuse/relay box. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

I have 2006 dodge charger Rt. I brought new battery an starter an have alternator rebuilt an my car still wont crank

There should be power o the small terminal of the stater anytime the key is in the crank position. I would start with checking that. If there is no power you will need to trace that circuit back.

That wire gets power from the starter relay and the relay gets power from fuse 20 in the TIPM (underhood fuse box). The starter relay control side starts at the ignition switch. The pink with dark green wire should have power with the key in the crank position. That power goes to fuse #10 in the TIPM. it then goes to the starter relay. the starter relay is grounded by the PCM.

Give that a whirl.

Battery hot wire hot at solenoid but no fire at start switch. Can jump solenoid and it will turn over. What do I look for?

The start switch ? Do you mean the starter relay your jumping the solenoid on the starter and it starts right but when your in the vehicle and you turn the key you get nothing right if this is correct the starter relay is no good when you turn your key in the steering column lock that moves the ignition switch on the steering column sending voltage to the relay then the relay sends it to the solenoid which then powers up the stater motor then it cranks the engine//// so the relay is bad

2006 Ford Expedition will not start this morning, battery checks 12 volts, will not do anything when turn key to start position

You can jump starter relay to see if starter will crank the engine. Pull the starter relay, use jumper wire between terminals 30 and 87, terminal 30 is hot all the time and there is a fuse, the starter motor should crank the engine. If you try that make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. Two voltage circuits at starter motor, one is hot all the time. The other goes hot when relay is energized. The starter motor grounds through engine block. Battery positive and negative connections are important.
