You most likely have a chip in the key fob which was damaged. The chip communicate with a immobilization device. This is why vehicle won't stay running. Need to have a key made with a chip

I has a similar problem and I just took the battery out of my remote. I think there is a problem/ short in the remote. It's as if the button is being pressed when it is not. I will use my spare one in the mean time. It was driving me crazy becuase I was driving long distance at the time and when I removed the battery it stopped. I hope this works for you!

I have taken a GM key FOB apart before and found a bad soldered connection. If that doesn't work, people sell them on Ebay all the time, look up how to program on the web and reprogram it to match your vehicle.

There is a special procedure involved in keying your fob to your car once the battery has been changed. You must lock and open the door with your key. Turn the ignition to "on"(not start) then push the fob's open and close button, then shut off ignition. This procedure is done everything the key battery is changed. Hope this can help you!
