SOURCE: my 2002 ford explorer wont start. lights come on

first thing to check is the battery and the connections at the battery. if all this checks ok then you should try and look at the fuses for the ignition system. this should get you going in the right direction.

My door ajar light is on but all doors are closed and the overhead lights keep going on and off

You have a bad door ajar switch on one of the doors. It is shorting out and causing the lights to flicker and the door ajar light to stay on.

Door ajar keeps showing up while lights flicker. car alarm goes off.

You have a bad door latch sensor. This will flicker the dome light and trigger your alarm. It is either built into the latch or if you see a small button in the door jamb the switch is there just remove the nut and replace it.

I've got a 2002 Ford Explorer and just bought a new battery two days ago and today when i shut the car off it wouldn't even crank. The theft light was flickering and also when I opened the hood by the fuse...

Check the battery voltage, should be more than 12.6 volts with engine off, and at least 14volts with running engine. If is less than 12.6 V then you have to replace the battery. A voltage less then 14V with running engine, indicates problems in charging system, and you might need a new alternator. If you have good battery and alternator, then you have to scan the codes, and turn the security light off. Sometimes disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes clears the code. Hope this might help.

Cant find the fuse for my brake lights on my 2002 ford explorer

if the third brake light works you will probably need a brake on off switch. the fuse panels on that truck are under the dash near the steering column and under the hood in the power distribution box. both of these panels are identified in the owners manuel.
