It depends on the pricing the shop you take it to charges. There is no "one set fee" for alignments. You can get a 2 wheel alignment, or a 4 wheels alignment. The alignment will also depend on how wore your tires are; how worn the front suspension is and if the car was in any type of accident, or if you've hit a curb all have to figure in.
If it flickers at idle, it "might" be engine wear, especially if you are approaching 200,000 miles. It might also be a faulty oil pressure gauge sending unit which is a little more likely.
I had same issue. Turns out it was low on anti-freeze in the radiator. I added fluid and now have lots of heat!! Be sure to also add radiator fluid to the overflow tank too.
At first blush, sounds like the knock sensor making the car misfire. Other possibilities are:
fouled spark plug; might not notice it at idle but would misfire at higher speeds; check the plugs as well as the valve cover gasket for oil seepage
if you've noticed a sulphur smelling exhaust or excessive heat from the exhaust, it could be the catalytic converter (more likely if there is high mileage on the car). Another symptom would be very bad performance and poor gas mileage.
