First check all your fuses.

If all fuses are good, you may have a wiring problem. If you are mechanically inclined, will need to remove the required components to expose wiring and see if you have a break somewhere. Most wiring harnesses run along inside of vehicle trunk. Then, they continue under rear seats and possibly under carpeting.
If it was a fuse wouldn't both sides not work?
Depending on vehicle manufacturer, they might have separate circuits for each side. The wiring harnesses also run separate. Out of the same circuit behind the fuse panel.
I would use a multi meter and check each terminal from the connector of your tail light assembly to the back of the fuse panel. This would help to determine if you have a broken power or ground wire.
If you find the problem wire, then you can begin to remove components to get access to the wiring and repair as needed.
Ok thanks.
