I cut my car stereo wires in my 97 crown vic and now im having a difficult time connecting the wires what shoul i do

Power from the inertia switch should be pink black and ground is black.

check the wires that go to you cap the wires that go thur the houseing could have a bare wire makeing contact on the dis houseing

Check the transmission linkage cable that runs from the steering column under the dash to the trans under the car. make sure that the cable is not damaged and that all connections are tight.

Check all your grounds and make sure all starter wires are tight and clean..

I did this once, not on a Ford and this is what I had to do to get it right. Get down to your local friendly dealer or an auto electric shop, put on a sad face and tell them your story and they will probably provide you with the wiring diagrams for the 2 cars. You need both. If that won't work go to faxonautoliterature . They have a wiring diagram book for the 92 for $19 and a Ford service manual for the 97 for $69. That will give you both wiring diagrams. It is an excellent company to do business with by the way.
With the diagrams in hand start tracing wires one at a time. You will find that a lot of the wires for the same things will be different colors, on orange wire in 92 will be green in 97. I don't know why they do that but they do. This should be able to get your car functional but you may be short a few options. I never did get my cruise control sorted out. Not without a specific wiring diagram--the computer needs a number of connections to run the engine. If it could be fitted with a carburetor and mechanical ignition distributor, it would be more easy, but still a lot of work just to take it out and destroy it.

Make sure you are using a 12volt DC system in both units. It may sound simply but an AC sub may need an inverter. Also check grounds.

I believe once you have mounted the horn and connected the wire you will find that the horn wire was cut at (by) the steering coloum that the siren override was hooked to,you will have reconnect this,I hope this helps you
