2002 diesel land rover freelander automatic when I put in reverse it kicks in moves a bit and then I press acceleration and stops moving

are you sure it is first gear it is making when in 1. In park does the car lock up if you try to push it with the handbrake off. If not your problem is adjustment of the cable i.e. although the lever is in reverse the gearbox isn't.

you need a special tool is no marks, one tool is like a pin this one go on the flywheel.
for the camshaft you need a special bracket to hold both camsafts in position.

there is a module mounted on the fan shroud that is a common problem. but as always, check fuses, connectors and grounds!
