I have a 2009 F150 4x4. The A/C cools fine when driving. However when it is at idle it stops cooling and the engine lurches. Any ideas?

Compressor may just be low on coolant (the coolant has an oil in it to lube the internals) or your compressors is going out

SOURCE: problems with cold engine

I took my car in to the shop and they found there was a lower intake manifold gasket leak. They replaced my upper and lower manifold gaskets and now it runs great! We have been going through a process of elimination and started with plugs and fuel filter, then battery, then cleaned the fuel injectors and finally the intake manifold gaskets. Replacing them seems to have done the trick.

SOURCE: Heat blows cold when car is idling

You have an air pocket in the cooling system. To bled it out you will have to park vehicle on an incline or jack up the front end untill the radiator cap is higher than the heater core. The remove radiator cap and run engine until warm then hold rpm to about 1200 rpm's and top off coolant level until you have no more bubbles.

SOURCE: 2005 Mini Cooper Engine Cooling Problems

There is a problem with the thermostat gaskets. Often times they leak and allow cars to overheat. Check under your car and make sure that there is no coolant leaking. MINI has updated the gasket so if you get your car serviced at a mini dealer then your gasket will be updated. There is not a bulletin or recall for this replacement this would be at your cost.

SOURCE: air conditioning blows warm at idle cool when driving

hello there:
you may have a blockage in the system and then again it could also be low on freon and may just need to recharge and i would suggest taking it to an a/c repair shop and have them do a diagnosis on the a/c system it should not be more than about $150 for them to check system and recharge the system unless you have other problems hope this helps you out please leave a review thanks sincerely D.Jones

When I am driving my ac works excellent, when I stop or idle it gets warm, freon is full, any idea's?

What type of car? If it is older and uses vacuum for blend door operation, you may have a vacuum issue. Engine vacuum is low at higher speeds and vacuum is high at idle. If there is a check valve incorporated in the system it may be bad causing improper blend door operation. Also make sure the cooling fan comes on during AC operation and the condensor is not obstructed causing lack of airflow across the fins. You will get more airflow at higher speeds whichwill help in the cooling and make it colder while driving

Why does AC not cool when engine is idling

Is the radiator fan running when you are parked ?

Cooling fan starts when switch on the engine, and the fan stops when i switch off the engine

cooling fan mainly turns on when your ECM senses that your engine is getting hot and there is no wind cooling down the coolant to cool your engine it usually kicks on when your idling or driving at low speeds to pull in the wind to cool the coolant. the fans don't need to turn on when the engine is off

2005 Kia Optima overheating during driving. Mostly when accelerating or going uphill. Fluid and coolant seem to be fine. Radiator fluid looks to be circulating to the thermostat when engine is at normal...

When the radiator fans stop functioning properly, the engine temperature will rise as there will be insufficient airflow to cool the radiator. The spike in temperature will be the highest when the vehicle is idling at a stop light or just stopped, but should subside once the vehicle begins moving again.
get the fan cked out.

Car has an idling problem, cause A/C not to cool when stopped

The a/c loads the engine and will come on good idle or bad, but it does sound like you should have your idle turned up.

Engine overheats when I am at a stop. It is fine when I am driving.

hi my names thomas i wouldsay you have faulty themostat in you cooling system. that will cause the water to be restricted in a small space that has a very slow exit via the thermostat on idle witch will case the car to heat up. where as when you driving you accelerat and it there for pressurises you cooling system and forces the coolent out the tight gap in the themostat at a higher rate allowing the car to cool down
