99 chevy venture tether strap anchors?

We just bought a stage 2 car seat( 20-40 lbs) & want to make sure its properly installed. I took it to the dealership today because I couldn't locate the tether strap anchors. However they had no idea either. They said that they could put them in but.... maybe not & encouraged me to consider buying a whole new seat. They directed me to the police station across the road because they said they couldn't just put the anchors in & that the police would know where to put the anchors. The police station however said they have nothing to do with that. It is up to the garage/manufacturor. I have tried to find the information online. One article said that 'the tether anchor brackets will not neccesarily look like the ones used for add-on anchors. Some will be short straight U shaped bars'.
There is a small bar resembling this under the seats but I'm not sure if this is an anchor or if it is just part of the bar that you squeeze to remove the seats.
Could you let me know if the '99 Chevy Venture come with anchor brackets ? Thanks, Bonnie

Convertible car seat

Your owner's manual should explain how to install a car seat. If not, you can go to a GM or Chevy dealer and ask for assistance. This is a mandatory safety problem they should not charge you to just assist in installing the seat.

Child seat tethers didn't start coming into play until around 2002-2003, however there are anchor kits available for about $50 from Ford Dealerships. When you call to talk to the dealer about availability, start with the service department. They can can check you Vehicle Identification Number (which is on your insurance or registration), and you may be eligible to have them installed under Ford warranty, even after 11 years!

Truck lock is jammed by briefcase strap. can i get into the trunk from the back seat? such as does the back seat fold down?

I searched the owner's manual and there was no mention of folding the rear seats down. If you don't have a manual, you can get one here: http://www.extendedgmwarranty.com/owners-manual/buick/1999-Buick-Century.pdf

You can remove the seats following the instructions below from autozone.com.

The anchor points on the 2door are located just inside the rear door under the metal strip at the edge of the carpet, they usually have holes in the metal strip with plastic plugs covering them, move the back seat fully backward and tilt it back to suit the safety seat.
ps.. my kids are both in booster seats now, and prefer the vitara to the car! :-)

Child seat tether anchors

This site shows all the recalls for the car. It says there was a recall b/c of the instructions manual and how to use the anchors. Hopefully this will help.
