should be a white wire coming of your coil that is you tach output there is also a pink and a white with a black stripe be sure to use the solid white wire

I'd suspect that the gauge is just tired. Check the voltage at the battery with a multi meter while the engine is running. At idle, if you are anywhere near 14V (13.8-14.5) you are fine.

Check all of your dash fuses inside the glove box if these are fine. Remove the door panel nd check to see that the wires have not come loose they tendto come loose from closing the rear door.

when you turn on the van can you hear the fuel pump come on?
