Sounds Like You Have An Exposed Hot Wire Somewhere. I Would Try And Change Cig Lighter Wiring Harness. Be Sure And Check Your Aux Outlets So That There Are No Exposed Wires. They All Run On The Same Fuse Hope This Helps!!
some cig lighter outlets have a U shaped + center pin. Sometime yer plug's - will engage it. ooops . Look for the two sides of the U and mark the edge of the outlet with red nail polish. Then when inserting the plug with a side pin, orient it away from the paint. Keep more fuses in the glove box
With the ignition off try prying the tabs closed on the inside of the cig lighter. Sometimes they get spread apart to far when using auxillary chargers. Make sure the ignition is off or you will short to ground and pop the fuse for sure. If that doesn't work and the fuse is good then you'll need to replace the cig lighter as a complete assembly.
Try checking the fuse inside the charger. Ths may be blown. Have you tried another charger in its place ex. cell phone or radar detector? If works for the cig lighter should charge.
First off the reason for instant fuse blow is because this is a positive wire grounding out or touching/crossing a grounded surface. I would first target the Cig lighter outlet connections also if the outlet is rusty inside looking, replace it.
make sure nothing in cig lighter socket..coins,etc..if nothing present, unplug cig lighter socket and replace fuse..if fuse doesn't blow,it's the socket causing fault..if it does, unplug radio, plug cig lighter back in and replace fuse..if fuse doesn't blow, radio is cause of fault..if it does, then ther is short in wiring
