Get an OBD2 scanner or borrow one from Autozone and read the check engine code. I don't think you overloaded your engine as you would likely crush your roof before you got to that point. Hard starting and hard turn over indicates that you've got either a fuel mixture issue or an ignition issue, which means you should check your fuel pump, your atomizer, your spark plugs, and your oil.

1994 cadillac deville no crank

The PATS security system would prevent the engine from cranking if the system does not "see" the right chip in your key. If the system is working correctly, the light should go off after you turn the key switch on.
You should have power on the small starter wire when the key switch is in the start position.

Why won't it start?

There should be a clutch safety switch that prevents you from cranking the engine with the clutch engaged.

My 2004 Honda Pilot ran fine then a hour later won't start. At first thought battery so we charged up usig one of those chargers you plug in. Lights flicker, and clicking sounds but won't turn

Check batry terminals are secure & free from corosion, check security of earth strap to engine & main power wire on starter, if ok have the batry load tested to ensure it can perform under load as the starter needs a lot of current. Have you tried a jump start?

Our 2002 alero won't turn over /start with key but starts by jumping. Test shows battery and fuses OK

Look for a light that says SECURITY or ANTITHEFT on the dash. This light could cause this problem. Explained on this link.

I HAVE A 1995 M B 500 SL THE SWITCH INDICATOR FOR THE TOP & ROLL BAR STAY IN A BLINKING POSITION. THE TOP, POWER WINDOWS AND ROLL BAR WILL NOT FUNCTION AT ALL... THANK YOU

The control module has set a fault and it will have to be reset. They are sensitive to voltage & must have 12 volts to operate properly.
The windows and top will need to be resync. I cannot find any information regarding the diagnostic procedure for the roof .. it states there is a procedure to diagnose the fault with the number of flashes the switch makes .. a dealer may be your best option on this fault .. I hope this helps some.

I started my car this morning and the check engine light came on and stayed on. I drove the 3 miles to work, shut the car off, and now when I try to start it all the lights and everything seem to work fine...

Is battery charge ok? Try to replace battery or charge it from other car.

Check to see if you have a computer chip on your key. Chances are that the computer chip or the reader in the ignition keyhole is not reading it properly. If you leave the key on, engine off, for 15-20min. that security will reset and the light will go off. Turn key off and now try to start engine.
