So far you have done the right thing. Next question is has anyone been under the hood just pryor to this light comong on. Possible something was knocked loose.
If not then you need to have it diagnosed. You have a small EVAP ( fuel fumes) leaking out when being tested by the computer. It could be anywhere from the engine compartment to the tot of the tank to the filler neck.
Or it may be a pressure sensor that is out of specs or a purge or vent solenoid.
If you dont have the proper equipment then it need to go get diagnosed.
My 2004 Z66 Avalanche 1500 has a HUM when I reach 40 and after 60 it goes away. An Auth. Chevy dealer rebuilt the rear end to the tune of $2500 And it didnt do any good. It still is the same
