SOURCE: 1993 Camry Check Engine Light

Therre is no DTC code "5". The DTCs start at 12. If the knock sensor (there are actually 2) was bad, you would have an acceleration issue. The knock sensor changes the timing of the spark to eliminate detonation, or "pinging". Do you have a "Ping" condition/valve rattle on acceleration?
To reset the light, open the hood, remove the 15 amp EFI fuse for 5 minutes. Replace it, and start the car and drive it until it reaches operating temperature. If the light comes back on instantly, you have a bad sensor or a bad wire.

SOURCE: what is a engine code 55??

Code 55 means 'End of code read-out', but not actually giving you any errors.
Seems to me though that it may have something to do with the fuel pump seeing as banging the fuel tank made it work for a little while.
To find the real problem have a dealer or mechanic troubleshoot.

Please visit http://www.troublecodes.net/neon/

for clarification of your error code. But I strongly believe you fixed a low rated fuel pump.

also from your explanation you got code 55 which means no error code was recorded.

SOURCE: 94 jeep runs normal then suddenly sputters and stops running.

Code 55 is the end code after the diagnostics cycle has been run. If that's your only code, then pretty likely you have no problems in the electronic controls. That would lead me to believe that there is a good chance that your fuel pump is failing...when that happens the pump binds and stops...after it cools down, it will resume operation, repeating the cycle. Next time it stalls, listen for the fuel pump when you turn the key to the on position. If you don't hear it, that's what is happening.

Testimonial: "Thundergod you were right. We went and banged on the fuel tank while starting and it would start run for a minute then stop. Its the fuel pump thanks"

2006/c15 cat, 379 pete. Ck engine light will flash 5 times pause then flash another 5 times. I was told means nothing. Fuel filter gage in the red then back to normal until trk sets a couple days

Is that back to red after a couple days, or back to black after a couple days.
I imagine that the sensor works off pressure. Is the sensor before, or after the filter. After it runs for a while does it build up dirt in the filter. Then when it sits the dirt settles, and runs good for a while. I've seen that before when there's dirt in the tank.

Where is the obd2 connector location on holden ra rodeo v6

Connect white (test lead) and black (ground lead) wires that are branched from harness approximately eight inches from ECM. After leads are grounded, the "Check Engine" light will flash the diagnostic trouble codes. The DTC's are indicated by the flashing CEL.
FLASH, FLASH, pause, FLASH, FLASH, FLASH = Code 23.
If only one diagnostic trouble code is stored, the DTC will repeat continuously until test leads are disconnected. If more than one diagnostic trouble code is stored, each DTC will repeat three times, starting with the lowest, then proceed to the next DTC. After all DTC's have been displayed, the pattern will repeat.I-MARK 84-85
Connect male and female test leads taped into wire harness near ECM. After leads are connected, the "Check Engine" lamp will flash the trouble codes. The DTC's are indicated by the flashing CEL.
FLASH, FLASH, pause, FLASH, FLASH, FLASH = Code 23.

86-87 Impulse located near the ECM connector, is used to actuate the Engine Control Module (ECM) trouble code memory within the module. Two terminals (A and C) of this connector are used to activate the diagnostic trouble code system in the ECM. With the ignition switch turned On, engine Off, connect a jumper wire between terminals A and C. The "Check Engine" lamp will begin by flashing a DTC 12. DTC 12 = flash, pause, flash, flash. There will be a longer pause and a code 12 will repeat two more times. This code indicates the self-diagnostic system is operating. The cycle will then repeat until the engine is started or the ignition is switched Off. In most cases, DTC's will be checked with the engine running since no DTC's other than DTC 12 or 51 will be present without the engine running. Remove jumper wire from ALDL connector before starting engine. Reconnect jumper wire after engine is running.

Throttle Body Fuel Injection

The ECM test connection is located under the center console.
A built-in, self diagnostic system will identify problems in the throttle body fuel injection system. When a problem is detected, the diagnostic system will illuminate the "Check Engine" light.
When the engine is started, the Check Engine light should turn off.. If the light remains lit, the self diagnostic has detected a problem. To determine where the problem exists, ground the "Test" terminal of the connector with the ignition On, engine Off and watch the check engine light. Each DTC will flash three times (lowest to highest).

What is service engine light code 12 mean

READING CODES USING MIL (CHECK ENGINE) LAMP

Be advised that the MIL or CHECK ENGINE light can only perform a limited number of functions and it is a good idea to have the system checked with a scan tool to double check the circuit function.

  1. Within a period of 5 seconds, cycle the ignition key ON - OFF - ON - OFF - ON .
  2. Count the number of times the MIL (check engine lamp) on the instrument panel flashes on and off.

The number of flashes represents the trouble code. There is a short pause between the flashes representing the 1st and 2nd digits of the code. Longer pauses are used to separate individual 2-digit trouble codes.
An example of a flashed DTC is as follows:

Lamp flashes 4 times, pauses, then flashes 6 more times. This denotes a DTC number 46. Lamp flashes 5 times, pauses, then flashes 5 more times. This indicates a DTC number 55. DTC 55 will always be the last code to be displayed.

Hello! I'll need the trouble code to fix your vehicle...Below is procedure with a code list...Guru...saailer

Remove the trim panels in front of the center console. Locate the engine computer attached to a floor-mounted bracket on the transmission tunnel between the console and the firewall.

  • Turn the diagnostic mode selector, located in a round opening on the side of the engine computer, until it stops. Observe the small red and green LED lights on the side of the computer next to the mode selector. They will flash to indicate the modes, with a pause between each mode. One quick flash is mode one, two quick flashes is mode two and so on. When the light flashes indicate mode three, quickly turn the mode selector counterclockwise until it stops. You have entered mode three diagnostics.

Toyaota Camry 1994 engine won't start, Engine light on

I would check for fuel,(pressure and injector pulse), spark, and compression, before checking any codes. Lack of any of these basics can result in codes, and then you waste alot of time chasing a symptom, instead of the actual problem. If more people followed basic diagnostics, which always come back to these three basics, rather than chasing codes first, they would find no starts much more quickly.

Engine stops while driving, will not start or stay running for hours, only to die again in short time replaced fuiel pump pcv valve, fuel filter

    Hi there,

Do not replace any further components until you have your On-board diagnostic (OBD2) codes read.

Your vehicle is fitted with a sophisticated OBD computer which monitors the performance of all engine emmission sensors and components.

By jumping pins 5 & 6 of your datalink connector (DLC connector located under dash, above driver's knee), your Engine Check light will flash the codes present stored in memory.

    wolfman304_7.jpg
    1. Run the engine until it reaches operating temperature, then turn engine OFF.
    2. Using a thin jumper wire (speaker wire will do), join pins 5 & 6 (note this connector may be upside down).
    3. Turn ignition key to ON (do not run engine) - the Engine Check light should start flashing.
    4. The 1st group of flashes is the 1st digit of the code; (short pause), 2nd group of flashes is the 2nd digit of the code (short pause) and so on. Note: codes will be separated by a long pause. E.g. Flash, Flash, Flash (short pause), Flash, Flash (short pause); Flash, Flash, Flash denotes: Code 323 etc
    5. Codes will usually repeat - turn key to OFF, once codes have been correctly read.
If the above procedure works for you, please post your codes on here and one of us will assist you with further diagnosis.

Ruff idol, poor acceleration. EGR light on. Idol was ruff for several days. Replaced distributor, coil, spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter and fuel filter. EGR light did not come on until after the...

Cycle your key on (not start) then off, on, off, then on and leave it on. Now count the flashes from the "check engine light" and get back to us with those codes. It will flash a 2 digit number, but pause briefly between numbers. For example: 3 flashes, pause, then 3 more flashes is code 33. 1 flash, pause , then 5 more would be code 15. When you get 5 flashes, pause, then 5 more, that's code 55 and it just means end of message or codes. You'll also get a short pause between codes as well, so have a pad and paper ready and keep your eyes on the check engine light.

My 94 jeep loaps and then backfires out the tail pipe can you solve

Power train control module controls the drivetrain. If you can get a code from the computer it would go a long way diagnosing wether its an engine malfunction or computer issue. To get the codes bring a pen & piece of paper out to the car, turn the key to the run position (not start but when all the dash lights come on) then off then run then off then run (three times in the on position, after you have turned the ke on then off 3 times on then leave the key in the on position and watch the check engine light. It will flash a code to you for example check engine light turns on then off 1 time with a long pause then the light flashes three times then another pause this would be the #13 code , most start with this code to tell you that it is checking codes. Just count the # of flashes (from the check engine light) & that is the first # of the code it will pause then flash again & that is the second # of the code. Flash 5 times pause then 5 more flashes is the # 55, & that is the last code you get to indicate all codes have been displayed, so key on then off then on then off then on & watch the check engine light count the flashes write down that # when it pauses then count the next number of flashes until the pause & that is your trouble cod they are 2 # codes & usually 13 is the first code flashed & the # 55 is the code that lets you know it is done, all the 2 digit codes in between are trouble codes & can be found in a chiltons or haynes service manual or search the web for chrysler trouble or computer codes.

    Check engine light on

Cycle your key, on (not start) off, on, off, on. Leave it on 3rd time, and count check engine flashes. It will be a 2 digit number each time. For example: flash, flash, pause, flash, flash. Is code 22.
Flash, flash, flash, pause, flash, flash, flash, is code 33. There will be a little longer pause after each set of 2 digits. When you get flash,5 times, then flash 5 times again, that's code 55 which means end of trouble code message. have a piece of paper ready, write them down, and get back to us with results.
