I have a 1983 280ZX and the turn signals and flasher stopped working. I replaced the flasher unit but no improvement. Any suggestions?

I replaced the three prong flasher unit and there was no change. I realize that it may be the turn signal unit on the steering wheel but I'd like to try some other things before replacing that. The fuse is fine - I have checked it many times.

My left turn signal recently stopped working. Before ceasing to work, the turn signal (just the left) would blink very rapidly (machine gun speed).

sounds like one of light bulbs was malfunctioning and caused the flasher unit to blink rapidly and iy burned out. Replace front and rear turn lite bulbs and see if flasher flashes. if not check fuse and replace fuse. If fuse okay replace flasher unit. Good luck

Can a turn signel work for about 15 seconds and then stop? or could it be the relay?

the flasher unit is probably worn out.there is a bi-metalic metal strip that gets tired and won`t expand and contract making the clicking noise you hear when the signals are in use.it stops expanding and contracting causing the flashers to stop working.change the flasher unit but make sure you changing the one for the signal flasher and not the hazards flasher as they look the same.to know which one turn on the hazards and look for the other flasher that is not making a noise as this will be the one for the signals.

Control ?i have a 1997 s10 pick signal flashers ( right and left ) stopped working, fuse replaced no go, all other electrical working ( brakes /emergency flashers etc) what do you suggest mission

The flasher may have gone bad for the turn signal, and there may be a second flasher for the emergency flasher lights. Look and listen for a click of the flasher for the emergency flasher lights. Then, the other flasher is the one to replace.

Good luck on this repair.

Turn signals aren't working but flashers are

that is because they run off different systems, they both have thier own relays, normally the common fault with flashers not working is either, fuse, or relay (flasher repeter unit), if you turn your turn signals left or right can you hear a click click click noise? if not its your flasher unit, hope this helps

Turn signals and emergency flashers quit working.

check and replace the flasher unit if necessary, sometimes located in the fuse box area, sometimes under the dash near the steering column

Both front and rear turn signals stopped working

Your turn signal flasher needs to be replaced (the hazard flasher is separate unit). Your owners manual should have the location of the turn signal flasher (usually on the fuse block under the dash).
