Do not hot wire cars,(starter ok) but never the wiring system in general and for sure do not ever hot wire the PCM, or any thing electronics.
this practice endend in the 60 to 70...
if you get the notion to hot wire the relay (pump)
you risk blowing up the PCM relay driver in side PCM.
boom, out comes the smoke and a $500 rebuilt PCM is needed.
seen and fixed many , can show damage and why.....

i cant not understand your "Retire" post.
do you mean the battery drains while you sleep (retire).?
this is called paristic drain (or dark current)
using and ammeter finds this while pulling fuses.
this car has very complex wiring, extensive.
if you cant find a lamp stuck on, in the dark
you needa ammeter to find this.

yes, a schematic makes this 10x more easy to diagnose. same true with all cars. etc.

the tools to do this are cheap.
here they are, about 1/4th cost of dealer labor for 1 hours. (your choich)

use the AMP clamp and win.
its like finding a dripping faucet in your home,(blind) so the meter unblinds you.

ah the " reusable link from the relay" hint , is shown above. (a CB)
the link you say, is a circuit breaker that replaces a stock ATC fuses. so you can trace out a short. and not have to buy 100 ATC fuses.
the 25100 ,meter has it in the kit.
also all stores in town sell ATC CB buses.
but with a drain its not need, unless it blows the fuse.
we need more facts from you,, to answer.
who long does it take to drain the battery until it fails to crank over right.?
    are fuses blowing?
any accessories in the car not working or acting odd.

Locate fuse for fuel pump 1997 camaro

The fuel pump power to the relay is powered by the PCM BAT fuse 15amp.
The relay is grounded and the PCM powers the relay to turn it on and power the pump.
You should have power on the orange wire with the key on.
The PCM powers the relay when the key switch is in the start position and after the computer sees oil pressure and RPM.

Not guessing as to what the problem is , testing for voltage drop problems with a volt meter . posted a video on youtube yesterday . If your still looking for guesses forget it , no one on here could say for sure without testing the circuit an hooking up a scan tool to see if PCM is energizing the relay . Do yourself a favor an take it to a qualified repair shop . Fuel Pump Electrical Circuits Description and Operation If you can't learn how to test from this guy , better take to a repair shop .

Will start if i put gas down the port/carb seems to have fuel press at test port,,changed the rotor/dist. cap, don,t allway have fuel press may be the knock sensor ?shutting it down. it was hard startind...

sounds like fuel pump relay. next time it want start pull the ecm bat fuse for a few seconds see if it will crank then. knock sensor will not cause this. ecm bat fuse it works the fuel pump relay, fuel pump, injectors, ignition system an the pcm. also the oil pressure switch will shut down the fuel pump if oil pressure drops below recommended pressure . check the connectors on these things that not loose or corrioded.i think you will find the fuel pump relay is what this relay is the problem. this relay maybe in dash or under hood in the relay box.

I need the fuel system diagram for a 1998 Chevy Tahoe w/ 5.7L gasoline engine

Dark green provides power to fuel pump relay from the ECU. Orange wire at fuel pump relay is power at all time and is provide from the ECM/Bat Fuse at fuse block (Left side of dash). It also connects to the fuel pump oil pressure switch. The grey wire at relay provides power to the fuel pump and fuel pum oil pressure switch. The red plug thats tape to harness from relay/fuse center is the prime connector..

I have a 91 s-10 that wont run...fuel pump runs and I am getting fuel to the carb all brand new plugs and wires and ignition coil and module and new cap and rotor? fires up and dies out?

The fuel pump relay is at fault. The engine will start running off the oil pressure sensor for the 3rd wire connected to the sensor feeds power to the fuel pump which makes your truck start right up. When the engine achomplish the standard oil pressure as needed the sensor shuts power off by the PCM default system and turns on the fuel pump relay to continue working the fuel pump. replace the relay and you will be driving around again

2001 Will crank but wont start

Hi , these trucks are notorious for fuel pump issuse. (I have 2 in the shop now).First check for spark if spark is present then we need to check for fuel.if a presure gauge is avail, install the gauge and crank the engine.if presure increases to 50-60 psi fuek is probably not the issue. now if a gauge is not avail you can remove the air cleaner/snorkle assy.spray some carb cleaner in the throttle body, then try to start if (if it starts for a second the problem if fuel.now if it starts go under by the fuel tank, reach up (from the drivers side and unplug the fuel pump plug (4 wire) have some one crank the engine ande check for battery power on gray wire durring cranking,if battery power is present check black wire for good ground.if both power and grounds are present pump is no good.if now power then swap the fuel pump relay w/ same design relay (in the underhood relay center) relays are also a known issue w. the s and t trucks, good luck Thanks

No start

have you tried replacing the fuse on the overload protection relay? This is located behind the battery, behind a thin plastic sub panel which houses the relay and other electronics. The relay is about 1 1/2" square X 2" tall, and has a flip cover to get to the fuse or fuses. Some models have a single 10A fuse, others have two. You might check these before going to much further. I have found that by jumping the car, you can blow the fuses, and very possibly the OVP as well. Good lock!

1999 GMC Jimmy won't start.

firstly where is fuel pump relay as i have never seen a GMC jimmy sorry about that but have you ever seen a foden ?? well the first thing is to check the fuse,if fuse is ok which can be checked by looking at it as its transparent or a piece of wire with a light bulb .across the battery.to find the relay is easy if you dont know where it is,When this piece of americana decides to work just turn ignition on and listen for the click of relay ,then when it doesnt start listen for click again or rather an absence of a click, sounds more like a dodgy pump in the tank or the connections going to it.when it wont start try thumping the fuel tank with the ignition on and if it is a sticky pump you might hear it start then at least you will know where the fault is.Another fault that i have come across with relays is that where the relay is passing a heavy load then its possibe for the contacts to burn inside the relay. When this happens then if it is possible to seperate the relay cover and clean the contacts with a points file (remember them ) or a piece of fine emery paper if the cover breaks taking it apart then use a bit of black insulating tape to repair the cover.Thats assuming the pump is in the tank and not bolted to the chassis near the fuel tank but that design with external pump i havent seen on a europeon car for nearly 20yrs .
