Hi Jessica:
If this is the straight 6 cylinder motor, they were basically very similar to the chevy. The firing order was 1 5 3 6 2 4
If you look at the distributor, find the number 1 plug wire, and then check from there it should confirm it for you.
Gotta love old chevys!

when istalling new plugs the i caught myself starting with distributor out, i forgot to look at the rotorf position before full intalling the distributor cap.the firing order was technically out.. i had just to reset it without any load and fired right up afterwards. she getting old but the girl is mine to take care.

It is actually easier to pull them both because of the top bellhousing bolts and the tourqe converter bolts.

Did you try jumping it off with another car?? It sounds like it may have a loose ground cable. make sure the battery is good, make sure the cable ends are clean and tight, check ground cable on engine block. Hope this helps you...
