Fan runs. Why doesn't the blower work? - 2004 GMC Envoy XUV

FAN NOT WORKING

It can be issue with faulty motor or its faulty fan control relay.

Bother are to be inspected.

Test volt at fan relay and fan motor.

check the blower relay if ok
check the blower moter for power and that it works
then the last check out the fan switch

Why did you remove the resistor for?Was the blower not working correct?Is that the same resistor?You can go to Autozone and get a resistor and install,if it doesn't fix the problem,take it back.,check power going to motor.Check fuse.

I would replace the blower motor resistor first then see if that corrects this. The resistor is located next to the blower motor under the dash.

The next time the blower fan doesn't want to come on whack it with a wooden hammer handle, if it starts you need to replace the blower motor the armature brushes are defective or sticking.

Being a Plymouth,I would look at the fan switch in the dash,bet it doesn't look ok !!

in the duct work where the blower motor attaches you will see the resister block. it is held into the duct work with two or three screws and there is a wiring going to it. undo the screws and pull it out carefully and replace it. your fan should work fine after that. be careful if the circuit is live as it does heat up alot.

if you are getting power at the fan plug, it is possible that the recycled motor is bad.

I presume you are talking about the blower motor and not the cooling fan on the engine?

If you have checked the fuse then ensure there is power at the blower motor when switched on.
