When you step on the brake pedal, have someone stand behind the car to see which brake lights light up and which ones don't. I am assuming you are seeing the brake failure lamp on the dash light up - and not some other light. Once you have identified the lamp that doesn't light up, I would suggest identifying the bulb number in that position (left, right, center Cyclops in the rear window) and use your owner's manual to purchase the correct bulb. The owner's manual for that year and model SHOULD tell you how to access the bulb easily, and then replace it. Hope this helps.

Sounds like you have a short in the brake light circuit. Get a professional to look at it as this may indicate something more than a nuisance.

2005 kia sedona dash board gauge lights wont turn on

Is it only the gauges or the all the instruments and heater controls? The first place I'd look at will be the dimmer switch. Normally the instrument lighting shares the same circuit as the parking/valet lights.

No there is a brake switch to turn on the brake lights when you step on the brake pedal. It is located near the rake pedal under the dash. It has more then likely failed.

Jaguar xj6 break light cancels signal

Replace the turn signal switch. Bad contact inside causing a crossing of the circuits. When the turn signal is applied it should open the brake light circuit allowing for just the signal to work. Doesn't sound like the switch is doing it's job.

Dash light will not come on. I figure bulb needs replacing. where located and how to get to?

there is more than one bulb that lights the dash. very rare that all burn out at the same time. Check to make sure the dash light dimmer control is not turned all the way down. check all the fuses. If those are all ok it is most likley the dimmer control has went out. The dash light dimmer control on these modles have had alot of problems. I have replaced several for the problem you are having.

2000 toyota camry check engine light. trac light on. when i step on breaks reverse square indicator on dash board goes on. No reverse lights and rear light indicator on.

wires are pinched and shorting together near the left (drivers side) trunk hinge. brake light power is feeding back through the reverse light wiring. this will also turn on the check engine light with a neutral safety switch malfunction code as the computer also sees this voltage in the reverse light circuit. Find and repair the wiring, pull the EFI fuse in the panel under the hood to clear the code. Hope this helps
