How to install distributor 5.7 vortec engine on a 99Cadillac escalade

Could have put it on 180 off

How many miles on engine? Any codes set? Could be bad cat converter, TPS, ignition module starting to fail.

First check your battery. Make sure it is good, charged and the terminals are clean and making good contact.

How old is the battery? It you do not have a battery charger, take the battery out and have your local auto parts store or the store where you purchased the battery to charge and test it. They usually do this at no cost.

Man your best bet would be to take it to good Toyota mechanic! When it jumps time their hard enough to get back on!

Removal disconnect the wire harness on the distributor.remove the distributor cap.Bring the engine to top dead center on the number 1 compression stroke. Align timing mark to 0. put a scribe mark on the distributor housing in line with the rotor.Scribe another mark with the rotot inline with the engine.( note the position of distributor housing in relation to the engine) Remove the distributor hold down bolt raise the distributor noting the rotation as you raise the distributor. At this time do not rotate the crankshaft. For installation reverse the process and check timing using the hood specification.

NOTE: To avoid confusion, remove and tag the spark plug wires one at a
time, for replacement.

If a distributor is not keyed for installation with only one orientation, it
could have been removed and installed improperly and then rewired. The new
wiring arrangement would maintain the correct firing order, but could change the
relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine. For this reason
it is imperative that you label all wires before disconnecting any of them.
Also, before removal, compare the current wiring with the accompanying
illustrations. If the current wiring does not match, make notes of the current
plug wire locations and orientation of the distributor cap.
