It takes about 30 miles of driving or so before the computer will clear an error code. If the canister was bad, there may be bits of charcoal trapped in the vacuum line and getting stuck in the new solenoid.. Check the solenoid by tapping it on the ground and seeing if you see small bits of charcoal...If that is truly your problem I would but a small lawn mover inline gas filter in the vacuum line. It will trap any residue and prevent clogging the new purge solenoid until all the particles have worked their way out the line...the filter is like 3.99

you should be able to fix it look for a can near the fuel tank that has vacuum hoses coming out of it and you should be able to just buy the bad solenoid

Push down, while pulling up slightly in order the disengage the tube.
Disconnect the EVAP canister purge solenoid electrical connector (1).
Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid bolt (2). Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid (3) and insulator (1).
