3.8 Litre Engine.Seem to me the three wires going to the postive battery cable corrode often, and when they do is when the surging begins. I do not have the factory postive cable on the car.I just have a generic led terminal going to the battery with three wires clamped to it. Is a bad electrical connection at this juction causing the surging when maintaining a steady speed?
Throttle Position Sensor and Idle Air Control Valve are highly suspect. Both of mine went out in my LeSabre
Possibly the wiring to these sensors have lost their insulation or have been stripped out. Check them with a multimeter set to DC Volts in the positive terminal of the feedback wire and look for surges (Changes in voltage) at idle. If nothing is read, make sure you're not hitting a ground wire. The sensor is bad otherwise.

It is possible that it will be the cause of the problem. Clean the terminal and the connected wires by placing them in a container of hot solution of carbonated soda ( baking powder). This will neutralize the sulphuric acid corrosion. Was with clean water when reaction has stopped. Cover terminals with vaseliene ( CRC terminal spray wax is best) make sure all connections are tight.
Also have the fault codes read to check for ather sensor problems.
