If the check engine light is on simply drive to your nearest auto parts store and they will perform a free diagnostic. The code can be read with a tool called an On Board Diagnostic Tool, OBD1, 2, or 3 for short. In my area I use Auto Zone, Pep Boys, Napa Auto Parts, and Advance Auto Parts. The connect port is located under the dash board near the steering column. The store will tell you what the code is that's causing you grief. All the best.......
