Do the ABS brakes function? If not, there is a fault with a wheel sensor or the ABS controller. Check the OBD Codes. You can get them scanned at Auto Zone for free. If there is no communication from the ABS control unit, that's probably bad and needs to get rebuilt. Cost about $150.00 if you send in your unit.

The light can be reset by disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes....this will also reset your radio time, and anything else electrical.

I would recommend however, taking the car to a dealership if the warning light is tripped again, just for safety precautions.

Good luck, and God Bless!

Low fluid level in master cylinder reservoir can also illuminate the cluster brake light. If the level is low, refill and check for leaks.

There is a light on my dash it is a ! with a bunch of lines all around it. what is that light for?

According to the 2003 Ford TaurusOwners Manual:

"Brake system warning light: To confirm the brake system warning light is functional, it will
momentarily illuminate when the ignition is turned to the ON position when the engine is not running, or in a position between ON and START,
or by applying the parking brake when the ignition is turned to the ON position. If the brake system warning light does not illuminate at this
time, seek service immediately from your dealership. Illumination after releasing the parking brake indicates low brake fluid level and the brake
system should be inspected immediately by your servicing dealership."

In short, as your brake linings (pads and shoes) wear out, the brake fluid level in the reservoir goes down.

You're probably right at the point where the level gets low enough to turn on the warning only under specific circumstances (cornering? hard braking?).

You can top off the fluid for the short term, but you should have your brakes inspected fairly soon.

Clio 2002 authentique 1.2 8 valve stop light & hand brake light stay on in the dash can anyone help!

hi from uk the stop/handbrake light has two warning functions it will illuminate when hand brake is applied or is left on whilst driving or not fully off position ?? the other function is it is warning you that your brake fluid in the reservoir is low/requires topping up ? if it is low ? this could be due to a fluid leak ?either from pipes or wheel cyl's/calipers ? OR ? just that as your b/pads and shoes wear lower then fluid from reservoir displaces from res to cyl's to compensate for wear so may i suggest you 1st check fluid level+top up if low? then check for leaks as above more important have your brake pads and rear shoes or pads if fitted checked for wear/safety i advise this considering age/milage? of car and if you have no record of being checked/replaced recently? if your brake pads are fitted with low pads wear indicators this will also give warning hope this helps? good luck !

(I)(P)Brake light on

hi from the uk this warning light has two functions 1st it comes on when park brake is on then goes off as p/brake released the other function of this light being on ? is a warning that the brake fluid level in the reservoir is low the sensor is on the fill cap however! low level may be a fliud leak ? orsimply the level has dropped over time due to as the brake pads and rear shoes wear down then the fluid displaces from reservoir and compesates for the wear and fluid keeps the w/cylinders always topped up automatically may i suggest you check your b/pads and shoes are not too low for safety if so then renew asap also make sure there is no sign of fluid leaking on brakes especially the rear cyl's and actual b/pipes hope this helps?

Red brake warning light is coming on randomly, only stays on briefly, but has never come on before. it started yesterday, wonder if it's at all weather related as it's been bitterly cold? do I need to get...

Have your brakes check out, could be getting low on brake pads or shoes, which will make your brake fluid get low, to make up for the space of wear of your brake pads or shoes, check and fill your master cylinder to the max level mark.Being that the brake fluid is low the sensor in the master cylinder will make the warning light come on.Fill and have your brakes checked.

WHEN I TURN RIGHT THE PARKING BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON AND BEEPS, BUT ITS NOT PULLING TO THE RIGHT AT ALL AND IT ONLY BEEPS WHEN I TURN RIGHT!

Check you brake fluid level more then likely low, that when you turn brake fluid splashes to one side and trigger your brake light switch in the master cylinder, also have your brake check out, brake pads could be worm which requiders more fluid at brake caliper as brake pads wear, this is being that there no leaks in the brake system.

Mini cooper Warning lights for abs, low tire, traction comes on

Ok, check the brake fluid level for a start. This could mean a few things. Your brake pads might be worn down, which would bring a yellow warning light on(triangle), at the same time with the pads being low it will have displaced the fluid, making the level low, this would be a red light on. Now because of this the body control module has detected these faults, will have turned the abs off, hence the abs light.
If brake fluid is low, this could confirm my theory.
If its low, top up with dot 5 brake fluid and take to garage to have new pads fitted.

03 Yukon denali park brake warning wont turn off

hi for info the brakes warning light on dash is also an indication that brake fluid level is low? or there may be a leak resulting in fluid level drop ? also considering age of car you may need to inspect brake pads wear ? if your car has low brake pads wear indicators attached to pads ? or the hand brake switch req's checking to ensure it is being pushed to off position when h/brak is down ? so fluid level low is the obviouse 1st check as fluid will displace from reservoir as pads wear low hence the level indicator on fill cap trips on may i suggest if it is low level b4 you top up? check your b/pads if you have not done so recently? or replaced since new ? hope this helps you locate problem best wishes from the uk
