What causes fans to continually run on a 2005 mitsubishi lancer?

The cooling fan as well as condenser fan run continually even when I don't run the A.C.They also run for a minute or so after I shut ignition off. What is the cause of this malfunction.

SOURCE: my 2005 mazda mpv's fan

I have a 2003 MPV with the same problem. There was a recall in 2004 to replace the fan controller module, which apparently would fail regularly. I had mine replaced under the recall although there were no symptoms at the time. Now it appear that the replacement has failed, but I've already used the recall and you can only do it once. Even though your warranty is up the recall still applies if your car is of the model that qualifies. Call your dealer, and he can tell you if you are eligible. It is almost certainly the problem. I don't care how you drive or what the temperature is, your fan shouldn't run immediately after starting or run for more than a couple of minutes after you shut it off.

SOURCE: 2005 vw jetta radiator cooling fan wont shut off

Check for a switch at lower part of rad. Should see a wire harness & plug on a sensor at bottom of rad. This sensor/switch also operates fan on/off according to coolant temperature. You may need to disconnect battery to get at it safely.

SOURCE: electric cooling fans run constantly even after vehicle is off

Try diconnecting the two wires on the temp sensor at the bottom of the radiator, you may be able to trace the wires from the fan, it that stops the fan, then replace the sensor and it should be ok

SOURCE: why is my engin cooling fan staying on?

It's not completely abnormal for some cars to have the fans stay on for a short time after the ignition is shut off. If the fans are staying on as soon as you start the car and never going off the fan relay might be sticking. Also note that the fans will go on with the a/c switch.

09 Mitsubishi Lancer acts like it's running hot so it displays SLOW DOWN. Then it won't go over 60 until I turn it off let it rest. Then it will start up good. I've checked water it's fine.

Open the hood and turn the engine on. Sit there with a nice cup of tea and see if the cooling fan comes on to blow cold air through the radiator. Even when you are driving, you need the fan to work.

If the fan does work, wait until it cools and properly rid the cooling system of air. Google 'burping coolant system'.

Even with a fully charged battery i need to use a battery pack to start the van when it does start the cooling van comes on for a minute then goes off and that continues

Check rear AC in van and turn it off. Most vans have dual AC. Even if the front AC is off, the rear is still usually on and some vehicles have the cooling fan and condenser fan run together to help with cooling. Check relay and fuse also.

Car overheats and a/c starts blowing hot air when at a long stop light

It sounds like your cooling fan(s) are not working. Most vehicles run the cooling fan full time when the A/C is on so that air is always being drawn through the condenser. If the A/C is not on, then there is a coolant temperature sensor that should activate the fan(s) when the temperature reaches a specific temperature. It will cool down when the vehicle is in motion because the forward motion of the vehicle forces air through the condenser and radiator assemblies. You need to check the fans and the fan circuit for problems since they don't seem to be working in for either A/C or temp sensor.

FUSE FOR coolant Fan

Hello. I would say it not a fuse but a relay. But check fuse also. The cooling fan run of a thermal sensor and it it get warm enough it will trip the relay to run the fan. Look under the hood there will be black boxes wilth cover over them. Remove the cover of each black box some will have some fuses and relays and other will just have relays with other controllers. Electric fans operate continuously after initial warmup. Temp gauge shows ok - about half way. Fans turn off about 10-15 sec after ignition off. This occurs in cool weather, regardless of whether car has...

It's probably a bad fan switch. There are two sensors in your cooling system. One is the one that your dashboard reads, the other is the one that turns your fan on and off. If your fan switch is bad, it will make your fan stay on too long or when it doesn't need to be on. Good luck.

Fan runs after engine is shut off

If the car is not running hot,the cooling fan relay is stuck.find the cooling fan relay in with the other relays and fuses, most likely under the hood. They may have put it near the fan,or radiator also, but,no doubt,it would have to be the cooling fan relay that is stuck closed

Condensation inside 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6 Equippe 4dr

Condensation is caused by the difference in temp from internal to external of ur car. Be aware of the engine temps & where your temp slider or environment control is set. If the is a draft coming from the centre console try changing to recirc mode on the fan setup as this eliminates air from external flowing through your car. If the draft persist I would go for a drive to cause the draft & find out exactly where it is comin from. Remember to keep it simple & check for broken vents or similar.

Enjoy & good luck!
