Most ABS sensor problems are due to dirt accumulation on the face of the sensor, a cracked "tone" ring, bad connections inside the electrical connectors, or an break in the wiring harness.
Start by wiping all the metallic particles off the face of the sensor with a dry rag. Then check the notched tone ring with a bright light and magnifying glass to look for cracks. Then disassemble each electrical connector and look for corrosion, oil accumulation, or bent pins. Reassemble. Then take it for a spin to see if it resets.

Its fine, but for safe cautions i wouldn't drive until it no longer flashes.

Common issue when a wheel sensor gets faulty. On every wheel there is a sensor which informs the ABS system about wheel speed. If any of them is broken then the ABS system locks up and you get the warning light. In this case your brakes are working just as fine but you dont have ABS so wheels can block when you push the brake hard enough.Trouble code reader can tell you which one is faulty.

Have you checked the coolant level? What you describe is exactly what happens if the coolant level is low. When stopped at idle, hot coolant is not circulating through the heater core, so no heat. As the engine increases in rpm's when you pull away from the light, the water pump is spinning quicker, and some coolant is making it to the heater core. So check the level, and if it is low, keep an eye on it to see if it drops again. That of course indicates a leak somewhere. Get it fixed, as overheating the engine leads to costly repairs and worse case a new engine. Let me know how you make out with this.

Is your Trac Off Light also on? If so this could be one more area to check. These are integrated and can affect each other. If the wheel speed sensors are bad (and they do fail more than reported) The will need to be removed, cleaned, checked and re-installed or replaced. The ABS Light will come on if the wheel speed sensors are malfunctioning.
IF NO Trac Off Light:
On my 2002, I removed the battery, battery tray, and access the ABS system located just below the master cylinder. It should have several brake lines going into a metal portion, along with a black plastic box like electrical panel connections. I remove the electrical connection (to the right side) Use a mirror to see the whole set up from behind to remove the electrical connection. There are 4-bolts holding the black body panel onto the silver body. Remove these bolts.
There should be holes in the black box panel you are detaching, and silver rod shaped that insert/go into these holes left on the metal box.
I had to only clean and lubricate the holes and rods, as they had become dirty and corroded with oxidation. After cleaning, I re-attached, replugged the connection and checked operation. The ABS light went out and the ABS was checked and everything worked fine.
If you do this and the light does not go out, then you could have a problem with the wheel sensors or the ABS Actuator itself. In most cases that you take it to a garage/mechanic, they will cite the ABS system that has to be replaced and that may not be the necessary case. Mine just needed the holes and rods to be cleaned.
