in a situation where a vehicle is started while in gear and the clutch not engaged the vehicle will jump very dangerous. So for safety the manufacturer has implimented 2 safety switches located by the clutch and brake pedal if the pedal is not pressed thereby activating the switch the car wont start. Check if the switch connections are ok sometimes they get stuck or get dislodged and also sometimes need to be readjusted
check the glow plug relay / and fuse. if thats ok then you will need a meter on the glow plug wire to see if there is any resistance on the glow plug its self. if the relay is at fault just change it. glow plug has no resistance then it needs changing. if the fuse has blown check the wire loom for the glow plug wires as they can get hot and earth to the engine.
Hello, please check all fuses first, if ok under hood I believe on pass front junction box locate the (IOD) fuse which will be labeled (IOD) on box cover and in owners manual fuse location and amp size. It may be a different color than all the other fuses. Pull the (IOD) fuse out and wait for a few minutes and reinstall. Try starting vehicle. Also when alternator problem addressed make sure main 40 to 80 amp max fuse is not blown out. Just to be on safe side recheck battery ground and other ground wires that may have been disturbed during repair. To check glow plugs if all else fails right rear top of engine is coolant temp sensor, disconnect sensor, this will cause ECU to think its cold and energize glow plugs, and allowing glow plug light to be illuminated.
glow light bulb could be burned out.but glow plugs is control by ECM AND RELAY.do your vechicle start but you dont see glow plug light on to let you know glow plugs are energized heating up.also check glow plug fuse, look in owner manual in glovecompartment it will show all fuses and relays locations.
I think the fuel heater as I have seen this many times.. It is under the fuel filter and special tool to remove. By the way the wait to start light is just a computer contolled light on this vehicle and has no bearing as to what the glow plugs are doing. I think they cycle on a cold engine like 80 secs no matter how long you wait to start. ALso on 7.3 make sure have REALLY good batteries, It does make a difference
hi.check the start selenoid on the pass side of the engine in the engine valley it has 2 battery connections and a little wire it turns on the glow plugs the wire might be comprimised look for the wire chaffing or insulation rubbed off. does it blow out immediatly or over time?
