SOURCE: how to replace valve cover gasket 1998 chevy malibu
The first step is to remove all the parts that are in the way of you being able to remove the valve covers. (Ex.: air intake, loose wires etc.) Then you will need to remove your valve covers (using basic tools) and be very careful to not let anything get on your lifters, which your valve covers protect. Once you have the valve covers off compare the new gaskets to make sure they are the right size. Then remove the old gasket and replace with the new one using a high temp gasket sealant (available at any auto parts store) to attach the gasket to the valve covers. Then tighten down snug and check for leaks after replaced.
SOURCE: valve cover gasket, rear main seal, and strange
all valve covers leak a little when they get old, this is not a major problem may just need new gasket, the main seals are notorious for leaking..will need to have transmission off to replace. strange idling could mean fuel injectors are dirty... purchase a can of Sea Foam @ Autozone, pour in 1/2 can to half tank of gas drive around for half hour see if it wont clear up the whole fuel system..if that didn't fix the idle problem, then it could be dirty air filter or plugged up erg valve or vacuum leak..check all hoses for cracks and security. One more thing, if its been awhile since the plugs have been changed i'd look into that too! hopethis helps!
SOURCE: where do i put the valve cover gasket sealant on
i beleve you would put it on the valve cover it self. some gaskets dont need any sealent.
SOURCE: I have a 1999 4x4 tracker. It has the 16 valve FI
If you do not have the same in it now it will not work.
