We shimmed the backside of the bottom latch to make the connection to the top latch. It now shuts and pulls down to correct location.

SOURCE: my 92 eldo cadi trunk won't close it latches but

There is a electric motor on the lower part of the trunk that usually goes bad. Not on the trunk lid but the trunk part. You can remove the assembly and take it apart so you can turn the latch all the way down , Once youy have done this you can put it back in place. Make sure you unplug the motor so it won't go up again, You should be able to use the release button inside.

SOURCE: Trunk Latch will not pull closed.

The small switch is the trunk by the pull down motor with the flap that depresses down is at fault. That is what you call the truck pull down switch. You can take this part and show it to a Cadillac or Ford parts department sales person and get a replacement for you car. Ford uses the same part for their Lincolns and Crown Vic's. The part is made by the very same supplier for Ford & GM. Ford will sell this part at a much lower cost as well compared to GM

SOURCE: 1993 Cadillac Seville...my trunk pull down latch

What you need is the gear's to the trunk motor, these gears are sold by them self. not hard to install in truck motor.

Top latch won't latch to the bottom when closing

Try using the truck lid key to reset the top latch...use the key to release/open the trunk...also try using the inside trunk release to reset the top latch...also spray some PB Blaster on both the latch, and the catch...hope this helps.

It wont latch on n shut.

Good afternoon! The cadillac you have uses two switches to control the automatic pull down feature. If the trunk was unintentionally slammed it can break one or both switches. The switch in the decklid (or trunk door)controls the light in trunk and is also a input to the lower switch at motor to signal trunk closing. Even though the light in trunk works this does not mean close signal portion is ok. The limit switch(mounted to pulldown motor unit is the other switch. This switch has a small plastic lever,a even smaller little tab,and has one screw retaining it to pulldown unit. I have replaced the switch on the pulldown unit 90 percent of the time. As i said earlier there is a chance both switches could be damaged. Hope this information helps you!

My trunk is of track or something and it wont close for nothing

There is an auto matic pull down thats in the trunk. If you look where it latches thats where it is..It might be bent over or it is stuck in the down position. The motor that pulls the trunk down in that latch might be broke or the gear that rotates it is not working..Thats where the problem is.I hope this helps you and Have a great night...You can also tell your wife its not her fault its just not working any more..
