Am looking for a vacuum diagram for a 1998 oldsmobile lss. Not sure if there is a vacuum line that came loose somewhere but I am running out of ideas for why the engine idles eraticaly and stalls out when...

Have your intake check your intake manifold gaskets maybe spray some Carb cleaner around it while the engine is running if the idle goes up you have a leaky intake manifold gasket also clean your aic valve

Check engine light on, while decellerating on freeway offramp the engine dropped down to an idle. when pressing the accelerator the engine barely raises the rpm's. linkage seems ok.

Check engine light usually means some failure in emissions control
system. Kia will have to hook up and get diagnostic code or codes.

The check engine light comes on and off and the car sputtering when decellerating, what's the problem?

You first need to get it scanned to find out the error code. There are many possibilities! Most auto parts stores will do this for free, and then you go from there.

Engine backfire on decelleration Timing Checked

if is doing it thru the carb then the fuel mixture is too lean, if is in the exhaust (also called after-fire) the fuel mixture too rich.

1997 breeze is shooting codes 12 46 43 55

OBD Code 12 - No Distributor Reference Pulse (Diagnostic Test Active) The Engine Control Module-ECM uses the distributor reference pulse to calculate the engine speed. On newer engines, the Crank Shaft Position Sensor performs this function.

Symptoms:
  • When flashing the Check Engine Light to read codes, code 12 will always display first, indicating the diagnostic system is active
  • The engine will not run with a "hard" code 12 set
Common Problems:
  • Chances are you will never need to diagnose a code 12. Rather, the problem would be a crank, no-start condition.
  • If code 12 does not flash, that would indicate a communication problem with the ECM.
  • Code 12 does not show when reading codes with a scan tool. If there is a communication problem, the scan tool will let you know.

OBD Code 46 - Pass-Key II System Error - Circuit out of Frequency Range The ECM receives a signal from the Pass-Key module. When the correct signal is received, the ECM will allow the engine to start and run. Please review the RepairPal article on the GM Pass-Key Anti-theft systems for more information.

Symptoms:
  • Engine may not start
Common Problems:
  • Faulty ignition lock cylinder

OBD Code 43 - Knock Sensor error The ECM receives a signal from the Knock Sensor based on the amount of engine ping detected. The ECM uses information from this sensor to help calculate fuel delivery and spark timing.

Symptoms:
  • Engine ping
  • Lack of power
Common Problems:
  • Faulty Knock sensor
  • Poor connection at Knock sensor

OBD Code 55 - End Test.

Hope ehit help (remember comment and rated this).

Alright, i dont know exactly what hapens when the car is trying to be started but the person says it will turn over, but not start? and i dont know if its firiing or if it has spark or fuel pressur. but he...

hook up a timing light; crank over the engine; check when the problem occurs... if the light goes on = good spark
light off= bad ignition
to check fuel use a pressure gauge 40/60psi=good
below 40psi check/replace fuel filters/pump
don't use the screwdriver-in-the-plugwire-to-ground trick!!!
don't suspect the computers/electronics as; the car starts sometimes.
hope this helps!

Wont Start

I've been having an issue with my Reatta not starting too, and believe it to be a fuel or fuel mix issue. I replaced the fuel pump last weekend thinking it might have improved things, but it didn't. When I go to start it and turn the key to ignition, it just cranks. When I turn the key to 'on' position and let it sit for 5-10 seconds before cranking it will sometimes start - so I think it is an issue with feeding the engine fuel. This will be my project for the weekend - seeing if it is a fuel regulator issue or something else. I found some info on the buick reatta web sites that might help me determine the codes and hopefully determine the issue. Oh yea, I also replaced the oxygen sensor too thinking that might be causing part of the issue (but you can't keep replacing parts to find the issue to expensive!). I'll try to follow up with this site if I find the issue.
