SOURCE: 1988 dodge ramcharger 5.2 liter.

Hi, sorry you've been thru a lot I guess the past couple of days. I cannot read what the other experts told you. Do you know if the ASD relay is coming on? If not, pull it out, turn the key on, and push it back in. If it clicks when you push it in, it is working. If not, I recommend you interrogate the relay socket to see why it is not getting a signal. I can provide instructions to interrogate. Do you have a 12 volt test light or voltmeter?

Without a voltmeter and a wiring diagram, you're in a bit of a fix. But I would be wondering why the ignition switch isn't sending power to the coil primary positive terminal, and why it isn't causing the fuel pump to be turned on, too.
Is your check engine light on with key on? The computer should sense ignition is on and briefly turn on the fuel pump through the fuel pump relay, on just long enough to pressurize the fuel line to the injector. But no fuel or fire-you'd better start by checking if the ignition switch has power in and power out, and work your way to the coil.

Where is the fuel cut off switch on a nissan primastar van

This is how fuel pumps act. One day they work and the next they don't. Check the fuel pump. Even a weak pump pressure will fail to start the car. Unless you were in an accident a fuel cut-off switch won't activate.

Also: Start by checking if it's a fuel or spark problem. Take a plug wire off and turn motor over.If there is fire, Take the hose going from the air cleaner to the throttle body off and spray a small amount of carb. cleaner in.If it's a fuel prob.,check the fuel pump relay (under the hood in a black box) (swap the relay out with another relay in the box ) If the relay is o.k., it's probably the fuel pump. If it's a spark prob., start with the coil and wires going to the coil.

Escort won't start when cold and has the strangest solution...

no, not likely. And a dry hose is a good sign, but a hose wet with gas is a sure sign of a failed pressure regulator. Your problem may be the pump not priming the fuel system. Here's how it is supposed to work: when you turn the key to on, computer will signal the fuel pump relay to turn on for about two seconds, and without a cranking signal from the engine, computer will then turn the pump off. When key is turned to crank, the computer will then turn pump back on-when engine is cranking or running, the pump is on continuously. But just turning the key to on, you should hear the pump run for about two seconds, and that will pressurize the fuel system.
At those times when it doesn't want to start, you should test the fuel pressure to see if the fuel rail is pressurized. If no pressure or low pressure, diagnose the wiring at the fuel pump relay. The relay is very simple- 4 prongs, 2 on the power side, and 2 on the coil side. The power side has a hot at all times wire and then the wire going to the pump. The coil side of the relay has a wire from the engine computer, and the other coil side wire is a ground. When the coil side is energtized by the wire from the computer, the relay is switched on and will pass power from the hot wire to the pump. So if the pump doesn't come on briefly to prime the system, the computer may not be signalling the relay, or there is a wiring problem around the relay. Good luck. You might just try a different relay-maybe yours is sticky and not responding.

It seems like one of the cylinders is not firing. Replaced the plugs, wires, and dist. Cap. Swapped fuel injectors around, didn't help. It was still in the same cyl. It has spark, fuel, and compression....

first need to check if fireing or not , your saying it seems to be? Try removing plug wire with engine running and hols a inch or two away and see if you here the engine idles down , if so it's fireing if not may be coil weak, good luck.

I have a 1992 toyota pickup ext cab, 4x4 V6 420 000 km. I have swapped the engine out for a 1994 toyota 4runner V6 220 000km, same identical engine. i replaced the timing, intake seals, oil pan seal,...

Try a hot wire to the distributor. If the engine keeps running then the problem may lie with the ignition circuit wiring. It also might be the ceramic resistor.
