The digital dash in this model is really a computer display, these are full of logic chips and hundreds of other parts, they do fail and then the cluster blanks out, it is fairly common on this model. You will need to pull the clutter out of the car and send it in to one of the many GM licensed repair facilities that rebuild these dash clusters. The one I use is called "Speedotach" they are a nation wide firm.
