Hi Kathleen lets try with a spare key to unlock trunk if that fails try with any key and a little WD 40. If none of these suggestions work then I'm gonna say that the rod that connects the key to the latch is disconnected or damaged. Gonna require pulling down rear seats using a flashlight, pulling down carpet that is in center of trunk above the latch and remove either 2 or 3 (amount)10 or 8mm (size)bolts that holds latch to inside of trunklid . Once removed the latch will stay on the lock hoop and the trunk should open. Afterwards you have to inspect the trunk lid to determine whether the clip that hold the rod is damaged and needs replacement. Good luck

Kathleen I'm Sorry but I can not recall is the seat release is in the trunk of that model. If it is try with the key to pull and push the trunk while turning the key. That has worked in the past for me if it fails take it to a repair shop its a bit of a pain to get the seats to release.

SOURCE: trunk jammed, driver side latch wont' work, keys wont work

THERE MAY BE A ROD THAT GOES FROM THE KEY TO THE LATCH, IF THAT HAS DROPPED OFF ON ONE END YOU CAN TURN THE KEY ALL YOU LIKE BUT IT WILL NOT OPEN THE TRUNK.
UNDO THE BOLTS HOLDING THE LATCH IN PLACE AND OPEN THE TRUNK, IF THE TRUNK LID HAS LINING ON THE INSIDE IT WILL HAVE TO BE REMOVED TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE KEY AREA FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR.
HOPE THIS HELPS

SOURCE: cant open the trunk

try having someone pull up on the trunk lid while pulling the lever or using the key. sounds like something may have jammed in the lock or the lock striker. this actually happens quite often.

SOURCE: 97 toyota camry trunk latch is stuck not allowing

I have the same problem. I've found that if you push down on the trunk lid very firmly eventually the latch settles in and will open with the pull lever next to the drivers seat. I usually pull up and push down to mimic the closing motion in a firm manner and after a few tries this allows me to open it up. Consequently, I've begun to close the trunk lid with some force, slam it if you will, and this seems to prevent this from happening. I've lubed the latch with no success either. Just a Band Aid solution, not an actual fix.

SOURCE: My trunk will not open. The inside latch feels

its sad to say that you will do something difficult, remove your backseat and make an access to get you go inside, be carefull and dont forget to bring light, take a look on the linkage from the lock position if it is still there, pull it, f its not on the position see the linkage of trunk striker, turn in on the way that you can open your trunk

SOURCE: i have a 92 celica gt and the trunk wont open with

if the key turns the trunk lock then inside the trunk one or both rods could have jarred loose from the key lock. this is not likely due to the button still opens it. If it does not turn try squirting a break free lube into the key lock and wait for 10 minutes or so. put the key in and out 10 times or so to break the tumblers free then try to turn. as far as it falling back down sounds like the shocks for the trunk lid are worn out. you can probably order new ones at a local auto parts store

Trunk wont line up to latch. Its 2 inches to the right. How to I move trunk back to left?

Loosen the bolts on the hinges and line up the trunk lid so it fits the opening with the same gap all around. Once that's done remeasure the latch distance again. Loosen the latch adjustment bolts and move slightly. Recheck and adjust until trunk opens easily with the key.

How can I open my 1995 oldsmobile cutlass ciera trunk if the key wont an there is no trunk release button?

Shoot WD40 up in the key hole as well up in the latch area up where the latch would be and some times this works. These should be lubricated several times a year but most people do not think about these areas. All doors should be done as well.

MY Malibu trunk release make a noise but wont open the trunk. It has no key entry.

it sounds like the lock motor is working but the latch mechanism is seized and needs repair.it could be the arm that attaches the motor to the latch could have come unhooked and not releasing the latch.i`m not too familiar with these but i can`t see a manufacture building a car and not having an outside access to the trunk like a key lock as it becomes a safety issue.if you mean the key lock is missing you can insert a screw driver into the hole and engage it into the latch mechanism and turn this should open the trunk.if not then you will have to remove the rear seat and hope there is enough room to crawl into the trunk to manually open it.

does the key turn the trunk lock?if not theres one issue right there.the other may be that the valet lever on trunk latch assy. may have inadvertantly been engaged if deck lid was slammed closed.the release solenoid will make noise when activated by fob or lever in car but because of valet being engaged cannot release latch.does key unlock glovebox?if not this may also be a valet key cut.contact nissan dealer to cut regular key.ive seen the slamming the deck lid scenario a million times as the valet lever takes hardly any effort to engage.good luck and let me know how you make out.

THE TRUNK CANNOT BE OPENED.THE INSIDE LEVER DOES NOT WORK NEITHER DOES THE REMOTE.

you can open it with a key? right? if so, sometimes there is a "lock out" lever near the trunk latch, the owners manual can show you where it is and if its in the locked position, it wont let the trunk open. The reason is.......if someone broke into your car, they cant just open the trunk.

Trunk jammed, driver side latch wont' work, keys wont work

You will have to get in the trunk through the back seats, and try and unbolt the latch catch off of the body. Then you will probably have to change both parts if you cannot get the catch out of the latch.

My key wont unlock the trunk anymore but the remote opener does.

There is a cable that runs from the key cylinder to the latch mechanism. There are clips that hold the cable housing in place, and if one of those comes loose then turning the key just moves the housing without releasing the latch. Check the clip closest to the latch. To get the trunk open drop the back seat, crawl in, and pull on the cable.

It is also possible that the cable is broken or damaged and needs to be replaced -- I assume you will then need to replace the enrite assembly.
