The shift solenoids on a 2003 Dodge Durango are located in the valve body of the transmission. To access the solenoids, you will need to remove the air filter and the valve body.

You can only diagnose problems like yours with a pro grade scan tool computer as opposed to a generic 'code reader'. It may be the shift solenoid or a computer data issue. A 5 grand scan tool can instruct shift solenoids to operate and verify that they have. They can also diagnose issues with the data transfers. If it's in limp in mode it won't shift out of 2nd gear. Get the trouble codes read. The solenoid pack is a pretty common failure. But don't just throw parts at it. Get the codes first.

either the torque converter clutch is stuck on or the crank sensor on the top of the transmission bell housing is **** and u wont see anything wrong with it ran into that once had to be bent or something dont know but it was the same problem its right at the engine block 2 bolts and a plug

there is a malfunction in the transmission somewhere. this is a problem you cannot fix in a basic garage because of the diagnosis tools needed for this trans. diagnosis. could be bad TV cable adjustment if not anything major. durango transmissions usually dont last past 100,000 miles.
