What could be the cause of belt to shred?

The first thing i would do is try playing with the belt tensioner. it sounds like the belt is lose and when the engine warms up the belt starts to expand and slips off.

The maintenance interval is 60,000 miles, but they usally last quite a bit longer before they fail.
This is a non-interference motor , meaning the valves will not hit the pistons if the belt brakes.

you prob bent some valves or worse. you will need to get someone to remove the head and check it. its a big job

Good Evening, this is kind of odd to run across after doing a few dodge belts today. First off reach down to your pulleys and turn them each by hand and make sure they turn freely. next I would tell you to check your belt tensioner those go bad to the point they can hyperextend the belt. Lastly before putting on the new belt take an old toothbrush and some brake parts cleaner in a can and clean out all the grooves in the pulleys and spray off the smooth ones and let them dry before putting the new belt on. One of the ones I did today had so much belt dressing all over the place and you could swear the belt was still in the grooves when it came off. Let me know how it goes.
