Your A/C may need freon....More likely R134a is the gas that will be working with your system. You will need a manifold gauge to check it ... A car will need 'topping up' once every 6 to 9 months if its used often .If its not used often possibly once every 3 to 5 months. The blue gauge should read from 35 to 40 PSI while the red gauge (high pressure) should be 200 to 225 PSI.

I ad this problem fixed and it cost $35. Apparently, this happens when the Freon level is low for some reason. They refilled the Freon and now I have AC on both sides. Don't forget to replace the internal filter in the glove box.
SOURCE: air conditioner blows hot air from dash
On most cars when you push a button or slide a lever to change your choice of location where you want the air to blow out louvers move inside the dash to redirect the air to your chosen location. When you switch from heat to AC other louvers move. These louvers are often powered by vacuum lines running from the engine. If one of these louvers is stuck or if you have a vacuum leak in one of the lines it may be causing your problem.

The actuator door on the driver's side is out of position and needs to be reset. Remove the negative battery cable for 1/2 hour to reset the computer. Start the HVAC system and you should be able to hear the door adjusting itself and cold should come out of the driver's side vent.
