Make sure the cap is on when you go to bleed. When you press the pedal down hold it to the floor and have an assistant pour fluid in reservoir then put cap back on before letting up on pedal repeat as necessary. If not working still you have a bad master cylinder

You have ABS brakes. You must have a unit or take it in to have brakes bled. The master cylinder with car off cannot push out of the ABS pump.

No every car after 83 has abs that's not an issue the unit has a burp valve so air is released just make sure to keep adding fluid as you bleed

SOURCE: Mercedes Benz C180 Fault Message Brake Assist.Visit Workshop BAS

Hi there

BAS is the Brake Assist System and if there is a malfunction it would only come into play in an Emergency stop while applying full pressure. BAS applies full braking force because people tend to lighten up their pressure on the pedal in these situations. I would suggest that the best thing to do is go to a Workshop or Service Center and have it checked out. Please remember to put a good rating on my profile.

Kind regards
Dustin Ellse

It is imperative that you loosen the caliper bleed screw BEFORE you push the piston back into the caliper. Failure to do so WILL damage the ABS hydraulics.

2007 ford sport trac 4.0 2wd just put brakes all the way around bleed brakes brake lines not leaking still brake pedel goes almost to the floor to stop disk front and back done everything right

obviously not or you would have brakes

there is still air in the lines and that can be from a master cylinder that has an air lock and is not allowing fluid to pump

Take it to an accredited brake specialist for diagnosis and brake bleed

when bleeding the brakes , it is a 2 person operation and each line ( starting at the longest line is operated until only solid fluid comes out when the bleed screw is operated

Rear caliper on 2005 Ford F150 not releasing, replaced both rear calipers, now pedal goes to the floor - no brakes at all. What can/should i do?

Sounds like it still has some air in the system or a bad master cylinder. First try bleeding all air, there is definitely some air left in the lines and this is most probably causing the problem. Bled the lines at the bleeder screws on the calipers. ---------- There is air left in the brake line.Any time the brake system is opened to replace brake lines, caliper, pads etc etc.Mostly the air enters the system, and that air has to be completely bleed.Otherwise the same symptoms , what you are getting will be noticed.-------- Brakes can be bled manually, with a power bleeder, injector tool or vacuum bleeder.IIt does not make any difference which method you use as long as all the lines and components are flushed with enough fluid to remove any trapped air bubbles or air pockets.----
The most common bleeding procedure is to bleed the brake furthest from the master cylinder first, then bleed the other brake that shares the same hydraulic circuit (which may be the other rear brake on a rear-wheel drive car or truck, or the opposite front brake on a front-wheel drive car or minivan). After these have been bled, you then bleed the other brake circuit starting with the furthest brake from the master cylinder.--------- When the complete air is bleed from the line, the brake should be firm when car is on.In your case brake brake pedal is loose and goes almost to the floor when car is ON.This is due to Air in the line.Get the complete air bleed from brake line.------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech

My 2003 ml350 petrol needs the brake pads replaced but ever since the brake inication light has started coming on it has had trouble starting I was wondering if somehow theses could be related

IF YOU OPEN BRAKE LINE ON BRAKE CALIPER WHILE CHANGING BRAKE PADS IT WILL CAUSE BRAKE FLUID LOST CAUSING AIR IN BRAKE SYSTEM IN WHICH BRAKE LIGHT WILL COME ON.YOU NEED TO BLEED BRAKES.

I have no barkes i put all new lines on and no i bleed them starting whit right rear and still no

When you stand on the brakes does the pedal feel soft or hard? If soft the chances are you still have air in the system. Tighten (not too much just enough to prevent the escape of brake fluid) all the bleed nipples. Now make sure there is fluid to the maximum in the master brake reservoir. Stand on the brakes to extend all the slave pistons as far as they can go with the current situation. Starting with the the right back (as you correctly did originally) put your finger tip over the end of the nipple and undo it with an open ended spanner by only a quarter of a turn. Have a friend step on the brake pedal. When he has got to the bottom of travel push your finger hard on the nipple tip and tighten the nipple gently with e the spanner. Your friend can now release the brake pedal slowly. Again ask your friend to press on the pedal and then you undo the nipple a quarter of a turn to bleed of the fluid (and bubbles). When your friend reports that the pedal is on the floor, again tighten the bled nipple. Again your friend can only now release the brake pedal slowly. There will come a point when your friend will notice some resistance to the pedal before you slacken the bleed nipple to bleed the fluid. Keep bleeding this brake until a quarter of a pint of fluid has been pushed through and now tighten the bleed nipple firmly. Add fresh brake fluid to the brake reservoir under the hood. Now repeat this process with the back left wheel, then front right and then front left. The important thing is 1) ensure that the brake pedal is never lifted until the bleed nipple is tight otherwise air is sucked in through the nipple; having your finger tip on the end can help avoid this and 2) to ensure that the reservoir is always full of brake fluid so that only fluid can enter the system and not air 3) that you bleed plenty of fluid through the system, when you replace brake lines it is surprising just how many little pockets of air can hide in it. Good luck

Changed brake pads! Success.. Now I need to bleed the brakes.

To bleed you brake system, you will need brake fluid, a jar, and a couple feet of small hose that fits tightly on the bleeder screws. You should not need to remove the tires to access the bleeder screws, but you may need to raise the vehicle a bit to access them.

To bleed the system, start with the right rear wheel. Put a couple inches of brake fluid in the jar, attach the hose to the bleeder screw, put the hose in the jar of brake fluid, then open the bleeder screw. Once the bleeder screw is open, pump the brake several times. Next, close the bleeder screw. After you close the bleeder screw, remove the hose and jar, then fill the master cylinder with brake fluid.
Repeat the steps going to the left rear second, right front third, and left front last.

Once you have bled the system your brakes should be tight and working nice.

I hope this information helps you, and I wish you luck on your repair.

Brake fluid warning light stays on coupled with short quick sound

Have the brake pads removed and cleaned. Also do some bleeding to release any air in brake system.

rate this please.

No brakes after changing brake caliper & bleeding system

Sounds like you still have air in your brake lines. Make sure all your brake lines are tight. Then bleed again. Bleed the trouble side first, meaning right side, then go to front left, back left then back right, make sure that your brake fluid is also full
